Incorrectly posted our RPI at 37 in previous chart, corrected it to 36 in chart below. Wow, what a convincing doubleheader sweep. Our batters are on fire up and down the lineup, and overall our pitching was good today. A win on Sunday would go a long way in a regards to an At Large bid.

Most green so far this year in chart below.

Go Huskies!!!

So I will happily admit to having been wrong (again, as someone pointed out earlier). We were obviously not out of a possible at large bid a month ago, as our RPI is now high enough to get us one. Did I foresee a 12 game winning streak with the pitching issues we have? Absolutely not. Don’t see how it’s statistically possible. But here we are, slugging everyone in our path to death and, occasionally when the bats are only fair, having someone step up from somewhere with just enough quality pitching to keep us from losing.

Our schedule is such that we have to win an overwhelming number of our remaining games to keep our RPI in the 30s, but at least it’s in our control. I don’t see how we are where we are with our pitching, but what I see doesn’t count for beans. Let’s keep winning, continue our streak of winning every Big East regular season ‘ship since re-entering the conference and see how this bizarre way of winning games translates to the post season.

Currently the only team that UConn has on its upcoming schedule that has an RPI of over 200 is Butler. Of course they have 3 games scheduled with Butler. Of course, other teams could move back to over 200 in RPI as the season goes along.

The Maine games are all going to be Q4 as well even though they are not over 200

37 as of this morning.

UConn did not play today, but as of now the UConn RPI has moved to 39. We will see if it goes up or down again before the game tomorrow.

If I recall correctly, you didn't rule it out, you just said it was incredibly unlikely. You weren't wrong.

Let’s just win and keep it in the 30s!!

Dominating weekend sweep of St John’s. On a 13 game winning streak, which is the longest current streak in the country. Few thoughts below.

(1) I did not previously take into account the Bryant game that was canceled earlier in the season. So I updated the chart, and it is reflected in the Norteast and Season record line items

(2) When checking the conference RPI category more closely, I saw that they ranked Independents as the number 1 conference. But that category only included Oregon State which is playing an independent schedule this year. So I am disregarding them and moving the Big East from 12th to 11.

(3) What worries me is that we are probably battling Xavier and Creighton for possibly 2 BE bids. I hope I’m wrong, but I would be surprised if the BE gets 3 bids. We have lost 2 of 3 to both Xavier and Creighton. So not only do we have to close the regular season strong, we probably have to get to the championship game of the BE tournament. I figure it would hurt us if Xavier played Creighton in the Championship game while we were eliminated earlier.

The only thing we can do is keep on winning.

Go Huskies !!!

That is a great point and I definitely agree. It would be nice if (at least) one of them stumbles a couple games down the strech so its a clear two team race at the top of the conference.

Connecticut: You were playing with fire if you wrote off the Huskies from postseason contention earlier this season when they were struggling. In not-so-shocking news, Jim Penders has UConn playing exceptionally well heading down the stretch. UConn did a clean sweep of St. John’s in Big East action over the weekend and climbed nine spots in the RPI as a result to 39. With 15 wins vs. Q1/Q1, a solid RPI for a northern school and a strong 11-4 Big East record, I’d have UConn comfortably in today.

Very Disappointing loss after being up 6-0, and 9-3. Tough to win when you give up 10 runs in one inning.

Let’s start another streak.

In all candor, even if we were to win every remaining game until the conference tournament, fall short there but perform as well as logically possible without winning the tournament, I'm not sure someone would be able to convince me that we warrant an at large bid.

We need to win as many games as we can for seeding in the BE tournament, then take home that trophy.

I’d like to win the regular season championship. Unlike the conference tourney, that’s skill more than luck. Plus, as I’ve said, we do not have the pitching to win a conference or NCAA regional if we have to go 5 games to do it.

I think 8-2 will still get them in. Only 10 teams in the country have more Quad 1 and 2 wins and UConn beat 3 of those teams. My biggest fear is Creighton or St. John"s win the BE Tournament and Xavier gets the at large bid and the committee refuses to put 3 BE teams in.

8-2 seems to me is a possible realistic run for UConn through the end of the regular season, after going 13-0 followed by 1 loss. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
