Absolutely right, given we didn't make it last year with some of those non conference wins we had. Championship or nothing at this point with nothing left on the schedule to really change anything. The good news is we have the starting pitching and the bats are coming around to give us as good of a shot as anyone to win the BE

Nice win last night. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long winning streak. As stated above, it’s going to be very difficult to get an At Large Bid. Especially with strength of the Big East being weak this year. But let’s just keep winning and see what happens.

Was hoping for 3 UConn wins yesterday. The hoop and hockey teams won, but unfortunately the baseball team couldn’t finish off the trifecta.

Our national season goal will not be reached, so that will be Red for the year.

Much needed sweep, that ironically gets us to the same overall record as last year at 12-13. We won 38 games last year and did not get an At Large Bid. I think with our conference and team RPI, we need to get 40-42 wins to possibly get a bid. That means that we need to win around 30 of our next 35 games. A monumental task that seems unrealistic, but you never know. Lets get a win streak going.

If I were Penders, I wouldn’t even be distracted by the at large possibility. We have to worry about winning the Big East and then the Big East tournament. That we can control. (Although the thought of controlling anything around this team’s inconsistency seems to be beyond our control.)
 
We are currently 12-13 heading to conference play, with a game against Q this week, hoping to get to .500

Last year, heading into conference play we were 10-13.

We also went 1-2 vs Xavier and Creighton. Putting us at 13-17 (we beat Q mixed in there).

We have a successful weekend, we'll be in better shape record wise than last year.

But our SOS is significantly lower and the conference’s SOS is significantly lower which will make moving our RPI up much harder
 
At this point I am guessing that it certainly does not look like UConn baseball will get an At Large bid to the NCAA Tournament this season. As mentioned above, UConn's RPI is currently 90. As for the rest of their schedule, UConn baseball does not have that many games currently scheduled with teams that have really solid RPI numbers, the only team on their upcoming schedule that currently has an RPI under 90 is Boston College. Most of the RPI's against teams they will be playing are over 100. Well, we will see what happens as the season continues to go along.

We'll have to see what happens to UConn baseball's RPI if they end up winning a great bunch of their games the rest of the season, even if they are not playing teams with quality RPI ratings. It would be interesting.
 
Was at airport this afternoon and finally got to my destination. Did not check progress of game until half hour ago. Very disappointing outcome. I hate saying this, but that may have put the final nail in our At Large bid chances.

We would have had to go on an incredible run to end the season, and I just don’t think it’s going to happen. Let’s improve over the last half of the season and go into the Big East tournament playing our best ball.

Best Team: UConn (15-15, 2-1)

The Huskies are doing what the Huskies do; they challenge themselves in the pre-conference and take some lumps but then they come around as the weather warms and become a post-season threat. A few weeks ago the Huskies took a California trip and went 4-2, which seemed to change their season. Big series vs. Creighton this weekend, which could change the “Best Team” nod.

Biggest Surprise: Georgetown (16-13, 0-0)

After three straight 30-plus win seasons, the 2025 Hoyas finished a painful 16-40. Well, they have already matched their win total from last year and currently have the most wins of any team in the Big East. Granted, their RPI is second-worst in the conference at No. 227, but at least they are beating teams they are supposed to beat.

Biggest Disappointment: Xavier (10-20, 0-0)

Is it really fair to put the X-Men down here after the insane schedule that they have played? Probably not. But here’s my reason… after playing East Carolina, Louisville, Arkansas, Indiana, Cal State Fullerton, Ohio State, Oregon State and Oregon, you’d figure the Musketeers would be toughened up and salivating for Ws after the schedule eased up a bit. But since that opening, the ‘Teers have gone just 5-7. <-
