surprised about Heckel
very good player but could mean a 14player(15 if sera williams commits)
roster with only 2 seniors
at most 9-10 get PT
perhaps, after all the injuries over the last few years and the ease of transfer with the portal GA
is comfortable with this amout of players

Yes, last season Geno had two Pg's on the floor (sometimes three) for the majority of minutes and the previous season three (Paige,Nika,KK). The only downside, KK, Kelis and Heckel are all in the 5'9" range.
Just for comparison, Hidalgo (uNd) is 5'6" so I would think quickness is also a trait. TOUGH Defense feeds the offense, and TOUGH Defense requires energy, and fresh legs stirs the TOUGHness in the positive direction.

Moral of the story: "You can never have too many tough defenders in the "Guard Shack!"

Fill the roster with Serah Williams (NOT a Guard, but quiets the "Need More BIGS!!!" section in the Boneyard), and Heckel, who both would be "Coming Home" as Heckel is from Port Chester, NY, and a grad of LUHI on "Lon Gisland" [pronounced "lawn GUY land"], and Serah is from Brooklyn, NY.

Then, Charlie Creme will still have USC Gamecocks as the #1, with UConn #2, but we will see how that plays out.:D:cool:

Go Huskies!!!

Oldude, see my post #37 in this thread. It lists 15 players if both Serah Williams and Kayleigh Heckel come, which would also give us 3, not 2 Seniors. Azzi, Caroline and S Williams

A roster of 14 or 15 initially strikes me as potentially unwieldy, but we are only one season removed from barely being able to field a team due to injuries and illnesses. And let's not forget how exciting and energizing it was this season when KK and Ash (joined at times by Morgan, Aubrey, and others) shot off the bench to change the pace of the game and disrupt our opponents.

As someone said above, in Geno, I trust. If these young women can envision themselves at UConn, embracing the hard work and team-first concept that comes with it, I'd be thrilled to have them. I wish them luck as they make what must be an incredibly stressful decision.

It should be 15: Azzi, KK, Ash, AP, Carol, Sarah, Serah, Jana, ICE, Morgan, Allie, Blanca, Gandy, Kelis, and Heckel.

Most, if not all, should be on track to be available for the exhibition game in November, and be able to beat Columbia, but we won't find out about that until the presser after NC #13. ;);)

Go Huskies!!!

I like this bit of information from her USC bio:

"Lists Sue Bird as her biggest sports hero... Nickname is "K9"..."
Not sure why Kayleigh chose U$C, but this can be Kayleigh's chance to erase that "error" and take her "rightful" spot at the World Capitol of Basketball, and in three more years, we will "Know the rest of the story!" [Paul Harvey's News and Comment was brought to you by Banker's Life and Casualty Company, Chicago, Illinois...]

Go Huskies!!!

Interesting that we see a recent pattern of coach relationships with transfers. Geno has a good relationship with Gotlieb and of course there is the Marisa relationship. Previously, Chen and Dorka had head or asst coaches that were previously UConn players.

Just curious. where did Rating services have Henkel Ranked coming out of HS, and if local (NY) at that time, had Uconn shown recruiting interest

Certainly not a coincidence - look at the assistants, with respect to their record as head coaches prior to their hire (return for Jamelle and Tonya (most successful of the three, and only one with a winning record) / first time out for Morgan). That's not meant to be a knock at all, just predictive, aligned to core values of the program - once a Husky, always a Husky.

Heckel visited Vandy, ND and Michigan St last week/weekend. Uconn wasn't on the original list.

What "original" list? If it wasn't from the player herself, all come with a grain of salt.
Were Heckel rumors a couple of weeks ago, so I dont know think this is a new development.
