Will the Huskies run the table this season? This is likely a premature thread, but commentators were talking about it on ESPN so I thought I'd post the question here.

Looking ahead, here are the only games I could see UCONN feasibly losing:
vs. Michigan (11/21)
@ USC (12/13)
vs. Iowa (12/20) in NY
vs. Notre Dame (1/19)
vs. Tennessee (2/1)

It's a lighter schedule than in years past with 4 of the 5 notable games being played in front of a home crowd and no top 5-6 opponents. I don't think any of these teams will pose too much trouble, but any of them could be dark horse upsets on a given night. The season is young and teams haven't fully figured out their true colors year.

Nationally, South Carolina, Texas and UCLA are loaded teams that likely stand in the way of UCONN winning it all should they meet in the tournament.

I find it hard to imagine the team losing. A LOT would have to go wrong. It's not like we only have 5-6 legit core players. Azzi or Sarah could have an off game and there is so much other scoring that I think they could overcome that, even against Michigan or Tennessee, who I think are the 2 best teams left on the schedule.

After today's game vs. tOSU, they missed almost NO shots in Q1 and still were down 3. Once our defense really settled in, the lead was 20 at halftime. I think tOSU should be ranked.

I honestly don't think Tennessee is a legit top 10 team, neither is NC State (probably top 15). I think as the season progresses, we might see teams like Michigan, TCU, and Maryland settle in to the top 10.

The only team I can see giving UConn some problems right now is Michigan. After what they did to Notre Dame yesterday they're underrated in the polls.
Didn't vote, undefeated is harder than and a championship and championships aren't easy either. 40 years of coaching and Geno has 12 NCAAs, and 6 undefeated seasons - no one else has come close to either of those numbers. So I am not going to predict either. FF is a better bet as he has done that 24 times. Love the team, they are likely favored to win it all, but against the field at this point they are not close to a 50% bet.

I think Michigan is very good, but I am not sure how good ND actually is this year. Hidalgo is a very exciting player, but their first three games were against the sisters of mercy. Not sure how good the rest of the team really is, and what their defense can do.

Probably easier for the players if they lose a game before the NCAA so they don't have a streak to 'defend.'

Michigan plays hard, and they have some talent. But after watching them destroy ND, I was shocked at how bad ND played. HH was terrible, often forcing shots and turning over the ball. The Irish had little to no movement on offense and ND was frequently slow getting back on defense, giving MI a bunch of easy transition baskets.

ucmiami2- - -I like Michigan but I think their weakness will be lack of big game experience!
They are still young with talented freshmen and sophomores!
When they play the UConn's, SoCar, LSU, UCLA, USC, etc. that'll test them!

Far too early to even make a guess. I didn't vote. The talent is certainly there but no one can guess whether they'll have a relatively light year as far as injuries.

The first time the team has a bad shooting night or gets badly out rebounded or has to come from behind for a win, some people are going to be predicting a Sweet 16 exit

So many teams are integrating new players right now (see: FSU, OSU) that there’s no way to predict what’s going to happen in 5 months

If we have off shooting nights Michigan and USC will be close wins but the real challenges won’t come until Elite 8 or Final 4. They are certainly capable of going undefeated

C'mon now, you know this is the greatest team ever assembled right now. 😉 😎

I’m not discounting Michigan. They have some ballers, like Swords and Olson, but let’s be honest. Notre Dame is not that good. They don’t have an interior presence. Make Hannah take difficult shots and pack the lane. Their next two best players, Bransford and Prosper, will not hurt you from the outside.
I like DeJesus, but she’s not a threat. I’ve seen her many times @ Duke. Just ask TriadDukeFan whenever he comes out of hiding. 🤭 They haven’t proven that they can make those outside shots on a consistent basis since arriving in South Bend. Just stating the obvious. Also, take care of the ball when Hannah is anywhere near your zip code. She will create easy scores. She’s a nightmare on D.

If UConn is off, do you think MI will try to push it up court, like they did against ND?
I know we’re spoiled in the BY, but a 40 point loss is serious. What do you think Ivey can do to turn the tide.
HH is clearly a freakish athlete but a lot of what she does isn’t even basketball. Those drives into nowhere are ugly.
What do you think UConn will do against her? (May not really matter)
I say, keep the pressure on out front, try to keep the ball out of her hands and if she beats the top wave, be ready for the next wave to help on her, hopefully without fouling. She can throw the shot off the top of the backboard. (Happened on Sat)

Lets just enjoy one of the most entertaining UConn teams we have had an opportunity to see. Injuries, hot shotting my the competition, etc. can happen. Unless you are part of a sports book, predicting the future can be fun but not worth much time.

Michigan also has the best coach in D1 women’s basketball with an annual salary under one million dollars. (IMHO) Come on Michigan, cough it up. Just a reminder for those with short memories, her St. John’s team ended a UConn home winning streak at 99 games back in 2012. Now that I got that out of my system, UConn will win.
