I have been a loyal Uconn Fan for over 40 years. I spend hundreds of dollars on Uconn Apparel yearly. I subscribe to HULU live because it covered all my bases. All of ESPN including ESPN Plus. All the Fox Sports Channels including FS1 and FS 2. I also us the Foxsportsgo.com app to watch games as well for the womans games that are on SNY. I live in Tennessee now. I also have CBS SPorts Network for the other games mainly football. I did not need an expensive plan if I was not a Uconn Fan. My point is that this Peacock Baloney is not fair to the loyal fans. How much more do I need to spend. Very disappointing. Mr Benedict, it appears you sold us out.

What streaming services do you have to get FS1, FS2 and CBS sports network? Do they have replay options? How long do they hold past games?
I'm old, too. YouTubeTV has all three, with replay and they hold things at least a month. It's easy to save what you want and it automatically extends if the game goes long. I've had one screw-up and that was a couple of weeks ago when they messed up the meta-data and they didn't get the overrun.

Anyone that has Xfinity (Comcast) should open their Account dashboard and check out what is inside Xfinity Rewards.

I got Peacock for free last year as a listed reward.
That said I have a "Diamond" account for customer longevity but it's worth a check anyway no matter how long or not you've been with them.

I already have peacock to watch the office, parks and rec, Brooklyn 99, etc so I didn’t care about the cost.

What does piss me off is I can’t watch the game on a delay while it is simultaneously being played. It’s either watch 100% live or wait until the game ends. I have two young boys, sometimes I need to pause the game for 15 minutes then come back and keep watching. The fact that I can’t do that with peacock really really annoys me.
Maybe, this will work for you to partially see what happened during the game while the game is still on.

When the game is on, go to Espn.com, select More Sports, then select NCAAM , and Select Scores for the in progress game, and It will give you the option for Gamecast, Box Score. You can scroll down to view the game progress but obviously this is a narrative, not a live replay.

You don't have to wait until the game ends. You can go back and forth with the Chat for some commentary.

This is what I do since I don't have Peacock. Obviously, it is a delay of sorts but it tells you who fouled who, and who got the rebound, and Box Score gives you the stats.

If I can figure out this phone radio thing, I will add to the repertoire.

I was able to do this yesterday, I had to rewind from the point the game joined(about a minute left in the first half) and I had to see the score when I joined in but I was able to rewind to the beginning.

This has little (or nothing?) to do with Dave Benedict, it's the conference. The Big East, like every other conference, was chasing more money and signed an additional rights deal with NBC to show BE games. The deal includes other NBC properties such as Peacock. The deal really kicks in next year so be prepared for more games on The 'Cock for the 2025-26 season.

EDIT: Be aware that the first five games of the 10-game Big East Tourney will be on Peacock. And lots of other BE and B1G games are aired, also.
Last night I decided to listen to the game on radio knowing I could get the highlights
that night or the next day on Youtube. One radio guy was really exciting and enjoyable.
Really enjoyed that and might consider listening to radio and watching tv with voice down if the commentary sucks. I often did that with MLB back years ago.

I probably will sign up at tournament time but we have to deal with this so much now with MLB that ( Apple, Prime etc.) I just don't watch those games. I don't like ESPN either for MLB. Used to get everything on YES and I liked the announcers. Can't let it bother me; there are other choices in life.

The main thing I find annoying about these threads is that everybody immediately assumes it's about the money. I don't care that someone found a 3 month free deal or $20 for the whole year deal. For me, it's the principle of the thing. Content owners are fleecing everybody with this crap of wanting their own streaming platforms. They are also gatekeeping their content and are the reason that every streaming service has to raise their prices every year. They demand ridiculous amounts of more and more money for their content every year. You know why platforms like Netflix have only a handful of great movies and a bunch of crap? It's because they could never afford what the content owners are trying to charge. It was different established rules with DVD rentals which is why Netflix had such an enormous selection of quality movies when it was DVD by mail only.

There is absolutely no reason for these games to not be on regular TV networks.

But it is what it is. Everyone on here is allowed to do what they what, but the more your give in to this stuff, the more it will happen. I will never subscribe to peacock, free or otherwise. VPN + ublock origin + script safe + sketchy website works for me. This method is not for everybody, so I don't necessarily begrudge anyone that gives in.

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel. To each their own. If people feel like doing it or don’t doing it, it’s their prerogative. Sports are a big business, and over time, it’s steadily been pricing the average fans out in certain ways, mainly at the professional level. There’s nothing wrong with going to a Yard Goats game or a Cape Cod Baseball League game.

Or alternatively, "everybody" assumes that there is no cost to putting on the games on TV. Or alternatively "everybody" assumes that they have the right to whatever they want, whenever they want it, at whatever cost, they deem reasonable, even if that's no cost at all.

Watch the games, don't watch the games, I don't really care. But if you choose to come on The Boneyard to whine about paying $1.67 a month to watch good quality broadcast of Connecticut men's basketball on, don't be surprised if people aren't particularly sympathetic.

It's funny because it would be cheaper and more profitable for everyone if they just went back to leasing IPs out to Netflix in one centralized location. These streaming services all lose money.

To me, whining about the state of streaming is reasonable (to an extent). But directing the anger at the wrong people is just typical behavior nowadays. It's so normalized that it's becoming incredibly annoying.

I guess, but like all whining, people's receptiveness to it is directly inverse to the extent it continues.

There’s whining about a great deal of things like officiating, Hurley’s interactions with the referees, our early season scheduling, where the games are televised, conference realignment, etc etc etc. Depending on the issue, folks will find themselves doing the whining or criticizing those that do. It’s part of fandom. It is what it is. And that’s just in sports. There’s much more whining about life outside of sports lol.

Yep, and all that whining gets blowback. The peacock whining won't be any different.

Sometimes sometimes not. And I see folks that fit both categories plenty on the BY. Lol. And that’s just relative to UConn college basketball. I’ve seen folks come at people pointing out the terrible officiating then whine about Hurley’s attitude with the refs.

Yup... hate

Shoot I remember having my best friend tape games for me VHF and over night them to me when I lived in South Carolina. I would avoid any news for two days and the watch them like it was live. And that was 1990-91.

I guess it may cost money but from my perspective I was paying 10.99 or so to watch every game starting with the year after the Dream Season. I almost did not take a job out of state because of the Huskies.

So for me it’s hard to complain. This team has been a passion with me since I read “Tony Tallies Two” in a headline of the Hartford Courant. That was the year we came back against Hofstra but did not have enough to beat Rutgers in I think the sweet sixteen. Been hooked ever since.
