Why is ESPNU showing the first round matchups?

That was a rhetorical question. It's been demonstrated that a team could lose it's entire schedule of games and still have a top RPI. Maybe UCF will force the women's side to abandon RPI for a more performance-based system that distinguishes between good wins/loses and bad wins/loses. But I doubt it.

I've got news for you: not everyone who takes (themselves!) and gets a perfect score on their SATs is gonna be millionaire.

You are assuming 2 things that I don't believe the NCAA has ever said.

1) That the RPI is the best measuring stick. It is merely one piece of information they use.
2) That a team's RPI rank is used. Instead they use the groupings -- record vs top 50, bottom 150, etc. So, yes, they are looking at good wins and bad losses.

Also I imagine the women will eventually move to the NET ratings the men have started using.

I know, but it still tells me that the Chicago region is the weakest.

All the ESPN broadcasters and Creme seemd already certain of this last night. Now we know why. Let's see if ESPN owns up to any of this later or just ignores it.

UCLA gets sent to Northeast again? Well, they'd have to get through the first weekend. But, still, that's like 3 out of last 4 years, I believe, where they are sent cross-country.
 
If this is correct, curious to see how they ranked the overall seeds. It would seem like Baylor is #1, ND is #2, Lou is #3, MSST is #4. Could be that UConn is #5 and Oregon is #6, and if that is the case, why wasn't MSST sent to Albany to balance the bracket?

Just adding to that: There is a lot of noise on the men's side today questioning whether the NET is even an improvement over the RPI.

The following MBB teams were left out (NET ranking in parentheses):
NC St (33), Clemson (35), Texas (38)

While the following teams got in:
Temple (56), Arizona St (63), St. John's (73)

The MBB committee's line is identical to that of the RPI era: It's only a "sorting tool," etc. etc.

Yes Duke made it, you are a #10 seed and playing Missouri a #7 seed.

Wait one second there is something on my TV screen.

Never mind, that is Drake vs Missouri, they abbreviated Drake and it looked like Duke :rolleyes:

They might have sent Louisville to Albany for geographical reasons.

Congrats to all. I still don't get some of the top seeds (1's and 2's), but that happens every year.

This is my one complaint about their "reveals." A lack of consistency from one to the next.

If they had put MSU ahead of UConn on Mar. 4, I wouldn't have been at all surprised, and in fact I kinda expected it. But if UConn's resume as of that date was deemed better than MSU's as of the same date, I find it very hard to believe that beating Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas in the SEC tournament was the thing that nudged MSU past UConn.
 
I hope the intro music for this 5 pm bracket reveal is just yakety sax

Well, I was right about Louisville being the overall #3. Hooray for me.

I was wrong about UConn's and MSU's seeding. Okay whatever.

I am genuinely disappointed that Ohio didn't get in the field. I suspect the committee may have let the nonconference SOS be a deciding factor on those last couple spots:

This has happened in the volleyball and softball reveals, as well.

But, folks don't realize that the reveal is "point in time". RPI, wins/losses, SOS, etc. will change every day until the last game is played; and, the seeds change accordingly.

That doesn't explain to me how MSU jumped UConn, though.
