Watched the replay and I believe it was Daniels who was open in the left corner. It is doubtful that Bazz could see him as he was on the right side of the court with 2 Memphis players running at him. I'm fine with Bazz taking that shot.

If it matters Bazz has no conscious when it comes to shooting. That is who he is, and partly what makes him great. Confidence can't be taught and he certainly has no deficiency in that department.

Next year we will be missing his "bad" shots. So enjoy them now you only have a few weeks left to see some incredible balling.

I was watching on the radio so I could not see where everyone on the floor was. I sounded to me like KO had them playing for the last shot at the last second. This to guarantee overtime at a minimum and a win if that damn thing went down.
I understand the theory of penetrating etc to get a better shot and a possible foul. On the other hand what if the foul got called a charge?
We got a good look, we got OT, we got the W, we got a great game from Bazz...

Probably because we're arguably the best 3 point shooting team in the country

Yeah. I was thinking that an uncontested dunk would have been right right call. Turns out Memphis decided to play defense, so that was off the table.

As others have said, he did take a couple of 3's before that were bad shots, but that one was not. As Hooper pointed out, UM brought 3 defenders at him and there we no room to penetrate. To try to split the defenders there would have been very risky and I wanted the ball in his hands unless he had a clear pass to a wide open Boat or Giff (who may not have been in) for the last shot.

The fact he was able to use the screen and get as open as he did for a fraction of a second was pretty amazing.

There bad shots in the sense that he is the point guard and twice within the last 5 minutes with the lead he took NBA range three's and they weren't even wide open shots and they were very early in the shot clock. Your in the double bonus situation, take clock and try to get to the line which is your strength.

They were letting them play, you weren't getting a call with the whistles swallowed as the clock runs down and it was Bazz……a very good luck buy one of college's most clutch performers. Not sure we get a better shot than that?

It wasn't all that much earlier when Boat eschewed a wide open 3 and tried to take it inside. The result was a TO. So given the risk/reward and that it was Bazz taking the shot, I was OK with it.

Now, had they been down one or two instead of tied, I might have a different opinion.

Correct, but the reason the clock ran down is because we didn't seem to run anything to spring anyone open. You bet I want the ball in Bazz's hands at the EOG but I can't help but think that if we had run some cutters and set screens, they couldn't have had 3 guys on Bazz with 3 seconds left and he might have gotten a cleaner look.

People were complaining about Boat not taking wide open 3s and driving instead, but he was getting to the foul line over and over. Except for the one time they didn't call the foul. Here's the thing. If Boat shoots a 3 before he has time to set, he is not a very good shooter. I feel great about him shooting in good form, but he invariably misses when he rushes it. He's like Giffey in that way. Only Daniels and Napier seem capable of hitting 3s from different body angles.

I never think that Boat driving is a bad decision as long as he's somewhat under control.

The play got somewhat busted by the missed initial screen. Give credit to Goodwin for not letting Nolan set a good pick at first. That pretty much eliminated a drive or mid range jumper. Nolan recovered and got Shabazz as decent a look as he was going to get, it just didnt go all the way down.

Agreed. Unless LK is red hot (which he wasn't yesterday} I rather have Bazz take a contested 3. I'd still rather have a layup by anyone else though

Because he shoots from 3 (42%) almost as well as he does from inside 3 (47%). The play was designed for a 3. Everyone dropped to the baseline and wasn't moving. The percentage of that 3 going in was probably better than if Bazz tried to drive and make something happen.
