The other thing we need to just accept is that it is pretty likely that if the next coach is successful, he will be gone in 3 years. Especially if he is very successful.
The 3rd option, I guess, is to go the MAC route and find a good experienced head coach who was fired for not meeting “unrealistic expectations”. Frank Solich has been at Ohio for 10 years after going 58-19 at Nebraska with 12, 10, 11 and 2 9 win seasons in 6 years. Jim Mcelwain is at Central Michigan after failing to win a national championship at Florida. Im not sure who is out there, and after Edsall I doubt they go that direction, but his resume wasn’t exactly comparable.
I know there is a lot of support for Morehead, but he was kind of a mess in his last head coaching gig. He had player issues as well as other issues.
