Remember this from the past seasons . Geno doesn't always play a lot of underclassman but he is this season and yeah theyre still getting it and theyre still winning by huge margins. IMO part of the reason that the underclassman are getting so many minutes is to prepare them for next season. Do you think things will be different next season? Yes UConn loses a lot of talent in Stewie and Mojeff and that talent experience and leadership wont be replaced however the remaining players will all be running the same plays. Do I think games will be more competitive next season? I think that's a fair statement. Understand we still have a lot of height in Tuck Lou Collier and Butler all very tall and all can score. We are bringing in some good freshman who can make an impact. Also don't forget a lot of our opponents are losing top players too and many of the kids that are going to be replacing those stars don't have a lot of experience.

Now to be competitive with UConn opponents must play good defense. So which one of the top teams will play defense good enough to have a chance against UConn? Hey opponents in most cases have to replace 20+ pts a game to have a chance against UConn. I don't see that happening. So next season don't expect UConn to lose much ground. I know some of you think UConn will lose some games next season. I don't because UConn doesn't beat themselves and I don't see a team out there that can beat UConn. It could happen just like any year but I don't see it happening.

I think Uconn will be very strong next year, but they are losing perhaps the best player in WCBB from the past 5 years and perhaps 10 years, or even ever, and arguably the best point guard in the last 10 years and perhaps ever as well. That is a HUGE loss far greater than any other team is losing. And the reinforcements coming in are nice, but not as nice as a number of other teams are getting. And two teams are getting very good players onto the court who have a few years of college and have been practicing with their teams for a full year.

Could Uconn go undefeated or at least win an NC next year - sure. Will it be more competitive, absolutely. Will the OOC next year be the most challenging ever, I think so. We have all seen that preseason expectations and actual results can be wildly inaccurate throughout WCBB and at Uconn as well - 31 games of a 70 game win streak and NC number 4 proved that.

Don't forget there is the possibility that Tuck will leave. Does anyone know about any players who are juniors, but could leave because of their age?

UConn will be a very different team next season without Stewie and MoJeff. It will not have the back line protection that Stewie provides on defense and the maestro of game tempo of MoJeff. It will be a smaller team and probably a bit slower than current. So while UConn should be top 5 team because of Tuck (crossing my fingers), KLS, Nurse, Gabby, Collier, Chong, Butler, Dangerfield, EK, Bent, etc, if UConn is undefeated next season, Geno should be coach of the year (especially considering the tough schedule UConn will play next season)!

Geno has been playing a lot of games without Stewie and Mo in the lineup, especially the last few games with Morgan out. He apparently has the same concerns and is trying to get a head start on next year.

I don't expect an undefeated season next year. OOC games will be more competitive. AAC games not so much so. UConn will still be a very good team and by tournament time any kinks will be worked out and they will have a shot at another NC.
It will be fun to watch this team, minus Stewie and Mo, develop and jell together. Geno will have to coach a lot more.
It's gonna be fun.

"It will be fun to watch this team..."??? I didn't think we were supposed to have fun; rather I thought our job is to agonize over every missed shot or every high school sophomore 5 star athlete who wears a Baylor or Notre Dame sweatshirt.:)

Minutes, not games, yes - but not much in competitive periods of those games. Last game was unique because of Moriah's 'homecoming' so she played 32 minutes but Stewart played 26 minutes including all 10 in the first quarter and the first 9:19 of the 3rd quarter plus another 7 minutes of the second. And that pattern repeats in the previous two games as well though fewer total minutes Stewart at 21 and Moriah at 23, none of which were 'competitive' beyond the first few minutes with Uconn averaging a 21 point lead after one quarter in all three games.

I see it more about trying to develop the bench for March and figuring out who he can trust rather than think beyond this year. And specific to both Butler and Chong trying to get them up to speed after their medical issues.

My thoughts exactly.

I also agree. We are losing too much to expect an undefeated season. Plus our recruiting has been sub-par lately and not looking great in the immediate future either. I hope Geno can figure that out pronto.

Which, in turn, develops folks for next year....

If UConn is undefeated next season, the nation should build a statue of Geno in New York harbor.

If indeed the starting five next season consists of Dangerfield, Nurse, KLS, Tuck, and Butler, that's a very good, balanced team. Add Collier, Chong, Ekmark, and the others from the 2016 class, and it's a stout roster. Championship roster? Doubtful. Final Four-caliber? Not out of the question at all, especially if Morgan does return like she's said she intends to do. If she doesn't, it changes a lot.

Fun season? No clue. Interesting? Fo' shizzle.

Whoa, alexrgct: you forgot Gabby! That's how deep we go: when an experienced fan can forget a great player! We will be very deep with FAST and MOBILE players (maybe not so much Natalie or even Morgan really, but they'll be upcourt). We will be sending in waves and waves of athletes to press and fast break....

I did forget. Now we can all enjoy 100+-post offseason threads on who starts.

Clearly, Gabby will be, at barest minimum, a significant part of the equation.

Tonite Tenn showed they don't know how to play Basketball. Plain and simple Tenn does not know how to play the game.

My prediction is 2 losses but ending the season with a W.

When you're 15 points better than any other team, you can lose a LOT and still be better than everyone else.
