Who y'all rooting for: Stanford or Tennessee?

Meh. Meh. Meh. So let me paraphrase one of my favorite Dallas Cowboys jokes:

Q: If a Tennessee Lady Vols guard and a Stanford guard both jump off the same 10 story building at exactly the same time, which one will go splat first?

A: Who cares?

So that's my answer, "Who cares?".

But if I absolutely had to pick one it would be the "S" word.

I agree. But I feel like everyone who's not from little Carolina should be rooting for Stanford to take down the No. 1 Gamecocks. Stanford-Tennessee is a much more even, and therefore more interesting, matchup.
Tennessee is somewhat of an imposter...........not going to be close.......Stanford by 15 plus

I know this is considered treasonous but I have root for the Orange Team because:

1) I want Geno to pass Tara in total wins eventually
2) A win over an unbeaten TN team would be more satisfying.

So therefore:

My thoughts on Stanford are, hmmm, complicated.
  • On one hand, the Hull twins both remind me of former Domer Maddie Cable and we loved Maddie! Good. :D
  • Yet, Stanford beat said Maddie Cable in the NCAA's her senior year. (Darn you, Karlie!) Bad. :(
  • Stanford has had three (3!) grads end up in South Bend and the latest, Maya Dodson, is helping the Irish quite a bit. Thumbs up!
  • But the Farm (and the pandemic?) kept Lauren Betts from playing with her USA teammates Sonia Citron, Olivia Miles and KK Bransford at Notre Dame. (Yes, this is admittedly delusional but Betts and Citron seemed to get along so well in Europe). Bad  ;)
Still....Tennessee?
  • Michelle Marciniak left ND for Knoxville back in the day and we Domers remember that like a day of actual sunshine during the perma-cloud months of Nov. - March.
  • And Kellie Harper is recruiting in unusual places, like the Jersey Shore. What's Justine Pissott doing going to Knoxville? She's got ACC written all over her! Hrrumph.
  • Plus, I don't look good in orange....

Go Stanford!
Isn't one of Pissott's parents a Tennessee alumni? In any case...they think she's the next Stewie.

I was gonna ask if this is a trick question, but I see the answers aren't all the same.

Stanford. I'm not sure what team Tennessee could play against that would make me root for the Vols.
Perhaps a team of extraterrestrials led by Hitler. Otherwise....

It doesn't matter who wins...just observe the game and get some enjoyment out of watching Women's College Basketball.
Oh it matters it reaaaaaally matters. I’m for the trees!!

I’m going with Stanford. Tennessee has NOT defended the 3 ball well at all this season and with a team like Stanford, equals a recipe for disaster.

I always root the the lower seeded team ( AP poll), except
when they play UCONN. So... I go for TENN. If
Tenn becomes ranked above Stanford my opinion
changes. The theory : the more losses higher seeds
have the better for UCONN seeding for the NCAA
tournament.
i think that u just answered the eternal question- the difference between a non casual fan, 'one who follows games of other teams only from a rooting interest for their team,' and a casual fan, 'one who doesn't do that.'

deep. rosetta stone stuff. get out the tux, the nobels are calling. kudos.

We better not be rooting for Stanford going forward because when they get Betts they will launch right into the conversation for #1 team all over again.

No one does.

Throw in a checkerboard pattern and you’ve got Crimes Against Humanity.
Hope I don't get into trouble with this but one of my neighbors wore an orange bikini and it rocked!

On the other hand, during college I cooked for Howard Johnsons restaurants, and yes, the checkerboard uniforms the waitresses had to wear were exactly a CAH.

Stanford should be the better team. But I can't root for them for 2 reasons mentioned by others: 1 - a loss by Stanford should help to increase UConn seeding because UConn does not play Stanford. 2 - a loss gets Geno a bit closer in the race for the most career wins. Tenn on the other hand is someone UConn plays later so a win would increase UConn's SOS. And of course it is Tenn :D. I will just watch and smile as I know someone will lose and make me happy :).
