Criteria for induction

3 yr wait post retirement

Individuals who receive at least seven votes from the North American Screening Committee or five votes from one of the other screening committees (women's committee) in a given year are eligible to advance to an Honors Committee, composed of 12 members plus rotating groups of 12 specialists (one group for female candidates, one group for international candidates, and one group for American and veterans candidates) who vote on each candidate. Each screening committee has a limited number of candidates it may submit to the Honors Committee—10 from the North American Committee, and two from each of the other committees. Any individual receiving at least 18 affirmative votes (75% of all votes cast) from the Honors Committee is approved for induction into the Hall of Fame. As long as the number of candidates receiving sufficient votes from a screening committee is not greater than the number of finalists that the committee is permitted to submit, advancement to the Honors Committee is generally pro forma, although the Hall's Board of Trustees may remove from consideration any candidate who "has damaged the integrity of the game of basketball".

So for women
Screening committee - 5/7 yes votes , can submit 2 names to Honors
Honors Committee - 12 standing and 12 "women's game specialists" - 24 votes - need 18/24 for election

2019 committee submitted 1 players name and 2 coaches - that's right 1 name
Teresa Weatherspoon Announced As Finalist For The 2019 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Election - WNBA.com - Official Site of the WNBA

BUT ....teams can be nominated, like Immaculata - so there is hope you'll get to see you're fav up there, ( if you're under the age of 30)

Crystal will be AA next year and earn a spot on the wall. But it won't be in time to be revealed at her Senior day. Sue, Diana and Maya are already locks for the HOF. Stewie likely with more success and longevity in the WNBA. In ten years UConn could have five individuals from its program (Women's side) in the HOF - Geno, Rebecca, Sue, Diana and Maya. Pretty damn impressive.

Tina will probably retire with the WNBA rebounding record and, depending on what Dee does, may get the career scoring record as well. She's a Hall of Famer based on her current resume, which will only grow. She was NPOY, WNBA MVP, 2x NCAA champion, and multiple time world champion and Olympic gold medalist. Don't overlook Tina!

So hypothetically if DT's number 3 had been retired this weekend, would Megan have to change numbers for the USF game and all games for the rest of her career?
She might be grandmothered in, as Mariano Rivera was grandfathered for the MLB number 42. But she will be long gone from UCONN before that happens, as Dee has her eyes on the 2020 Olympics and beyond. It will be some future 03, 10, 23 or 30 Husky that will have that other new giant shadow up on the "rafters" looking down on them.
