Who is our big man coach?

It's amazing how some folks are starting to come around to what I have been preaching for a couple years now. It's all good.

I will keep it simple. Our players are not as good as the other teams' players.

And quite frankly I agree this staff needs to now put a MUST on getting good, solid big guys and it's on them to do so……..Lubin could be the start but they need more………..and fast! It's not that I don't believe that Brimah may eventually be good or that Nolan may some day be okay, I like them, but with them comes no guarantee and also they don't rebound enough now. Also I would love Clyde if it fit and if it was right, but while he was real good with the big guys, this isn't on the staff they just don't have any size, girth to these guys and always lose the fight…….and to combat they need to "hit" people first and they don't even do that…….the IQ is not there and that's never good when you're teaching bigs to just do their job. At least box out right? But none does………and even their attempts are futile at best, never holding the spot.
There was not a recruit I wanted more than Abu, not even Hamilton, and I'm thrilled UConn landed Hamilton. IMO Abu was the player that would have fixed this problem real quickly. Lubin is an upgrade but not the huge upgrade Abu would have been. Until UConn lands a real rebounding talent and has a couple of years to work with that player, people will question the problem as being the coaches. Some people need to have concrete evidence before they change their opinion. And facts never got in the way of Chief.

I'm like you. If UConn lands a talented front court player from high school, and that player doesn't produce, than the onus is on the staff. Until then it's an open book.

Just for the record, read my posts. I said talent was scarce but put recruited bigs on the coaches.

Lubin may be better and more of what we need, we won't know until Rock appears…….I tend to like the guy who wants to come here and I certainly know we are begging for a guy with his strength…….hope his mom comes on and gives us an update sometime soon she was a treat.

I've co mingled a lot of your posts with my sarcasm. You have a tendency to take a small sample size, make grandiose conclusions with that small sample size, and fail to see the short comings that exist with this process. You also take your few conclusions that are correct and suggest that this is why we should always take you as being an expert. Maybe you are, maybe you aren't. I just don't see you as Gurlyman or one of the other brilliant posters. And I am ever on guard about your posting because you love to get a group going with the intent of stringing up a player or coach.

With that said I've read your post in this thread and the statement you made was understood. You believe a coach who is tall and has had success at the four or five position would improve chances at getting better recruits at that position. I tend to doubt it. I'm sure there are a lot of staffs that lack the type of coach you are describing and have decent bigs.

I think a better correlation is that KO is just beginning to establish relationships with high school and AAU coaches and we are demanding results from him without giving a decent amount of time to see how things turn out. I want 3-4 more years before I make up my mind. I'm not counting this past season's recruiting because the APR sanctions and the lack of a contract hamstrung KO.

I'm with you about a guy who wants UConn is a guy I'm happy with. The tapes I've seen of Lubin is that his motor is limited. He has the body and the instincts for rebounding but I'm not sure he has the body for hustle needed at the college level.

Hopefully that is from the fact he was injured and he is now getting back to tip top shape…….we'll see I guess but damn we need someone who doesn't accept being pushed around!

He won't be pushed around from what I saw and has great hands. It's just a matter if he can keep running up and down the court. I'm not sure how much of what I saw was lack of conditioning or how much was limitations in his drive/ability to keep motoring. I'm cautious about him is all.

Is Kevin Freeman allowed to coach or he tied to a desk? I would like to see his toughness on the court.

Clyde Vaughn blew the job.

Heard he had a hat on too………

Tried to bring back the Rookies Mojo yesterday Dove with some of the guys…..no good! Maybe the name change to Sam's has not allowed that to be the spot now? LOL
