Likely have to wait until the Eagles finish their season. But I don't know why I'm the only one mentioning the guy. Everybody talks about Golden.

"According to ESPN NFL Insider Chris Mortensen, “some who know Schwartz don't believe he will take just any job if it presents itself. He could be entertained by the right college opportunity.”"

Honestly I'm not sure why you are mentioning Schwartz at all. He hasn't coached in The NCAA since the early 90's, and then it was at a low level assistant position. He built his career as an NFL Coach. I simply see no connection for why he would want to coach at Uconn at this point in his career.

NFL Coaches and NCAA Coaches are often really different cats. The NFL is coaching and only coaching of professionals 24/7. College is less hours coaching, but with addition of non stop recruiting, managing of 100+ teenagers/young adults, monitoring academics, and the job of glad handing boosters, alums, politicians, fans etc. They are almost entirely different professions.

For the career NFL Guy this is often a shock to the system and why a guy like Bill Obrien was a short timer, and others like Lovie Smith and Jim Mora could soon follow.

Here's my list...

1. Les Miles (I know its a pipe dream, but you have to ask his agent if he'd at least talk/interview- and honestly at 62 this would be a no pressure gig for him for a few of years)

2. Greg Schiano (Hated him at Rutgers, would love him here... Get's the Northeast and recruiting here and how to clean up messes- i.e. Rutgers)

3. Al Golden (If he even wants to get back into the college coaching game, Golden is a solid choice that would fit with what DB is looking for. Didn't work out at Miami, but then again who does?? And com'on who wouldn't want to see a blue/red/white striped tie on our sidelines every game?)

4. Bobby Wilder (This guy has pretty quietly built a program at Old Dominon from scratch, and turned them into a 10-3 perennial power in the C-USA. UConn would be a place that would be a logical "next step" for someone like Wilder, and he checks the already has head coaching experience box for us.)

5. Rhett Lashlee (The only guy who I'd possibly be OK with without HC experience, outside of Todd Orlando or Joe Moorhead. The 33 year old has lead Auburn's offense the last 4 years- think about that kind of upside... He has ties to DB from his time down there too)

6. Rob Ambrose (If we're going the FCS route, then going back to the well with a guy who knows this program (from its roots) and has had mild success in the FCS at Towson, isn't a terrible idea.)

7. Joe Moorhead (If he even wants to come here- I'd take him in a second, but given the reports he's not interested I just threw his name on here.)

8. Todd Orlando (Same goes for Todd Orlando, now at Texas with Tom Herrman, plus he's a DC and offense has been our issue as of late...)

I've settled my mind on Schiano as 2A and Lashlee as 2B (Moorehead being 1, but I don't know if he is still a possibilty)

Keep shaking the tumbler.

Miles was fired for being too conservative at LSU. He has no recruiting ties to the area. Why would anyone want him here?

Luckily, it will never happen.

Longtime lurker, but my guess is...

Plan A. Helfrich or Miles (Most likely Helfrich due to DB ties, offensive mind)
Plan B. Edsall

With Edsall being the plan B, due solely to Burton ponying up some $$$ for the buyout.

.-.
Miles was fired for being too conservative at LSU. He has no recruiting ties to the area.
How hard do you think it would be for Les Miles to put his foot in the door of any/every high school in the northeast? Or pull a couple of three-star athletes from the south or midwest?

Here's how he establishes recruiting ties in the area: "Hi, I'm Les Miles. Let me show you my championship ring and a list of the 100+ guys I put into the NFL."

Given how mixed the opinion is on who the coach should be (unless you add Miles, Moorhead or Helfrich), I suggest all of the candidates enter the MMA octagon and the last man standing is the new coach.
