Hartley does so much more than score for the team. After a tough 2 assist and 5 TO game against Depaul, she had 4 game of 7/2, 6/3, 7/4, and 7/3 in assists/TO's. You can't be worried about Hartley.
Bria's scoring:

vs Louisville 3-10, (1-6) - 9 points
vs RU 2-7 (2-6) - 8 points
vs Duke 5-10 (1-5) - 15 points
vs USF 3-9 (0-4) - 8 points
vs SU 6-9 (3-5) - 18 points
vs DePaul 4-10 (2-6) - 10 points
vs UNC 7-14 (3-7) - 17 points

Don't see a slump, really. Defenses are keying on her and she's still scoring and making game-winning shots. I am not worrying about Bria.

We even have some who always, always see it completely full.

Makes it easy to steal their drink.

And some, alas, who have a glass half empty because it has a crack in it....

Bria's scoring:

vs RU - 8 points, 7 assists, 3 TO's
vs Duke - 15 points, 6 assists, 3 TO's
vs USF - 8 points, 7 assists, 4 TO's
vs SU - 18 points, 7 assists, 3 TO's

I added her assists and to's to your post, Nan. I think that Hartley has been playing like an AA. How can anyone be worried about her?

I peeked at the Georgetown vs. Seton Hall box score. Georgetown scored 56 points and one player, Sugar Rogers, scored 23, half of the team total. Can we trust Geno to limit her production? I think so.

As for Notre Dame, there is one sure way to guarantee a UConn victory: Rely on the Sports Illustrated cover jinx. The February 6 issue had a photo of Robert Kraft and a big story, "How Robert Kraft Turned the Patriots into the NFL's Model Franchise." The cover and story were published on the eve of the NY Giants' victory over the "model franchise" in the Super Bowl.

So let's lobby SI for a cover story about Muffett or Skylar Diggins to appear on/about February 25. That would be better than a Joe Namath guarantee.

I think Mods should establish a permanent thread where skert Boneheads can wring their hands and worry about the third ranked team in the country.

BTW…my take is that others should worry about UCONN, a team that meets challenges with vigor and vinegar , is getting better, and is fun to watch develop and grow.

Great post, both this and your prior one. If you have not already figured it out, we have some folks here who always, always see the glass at half full, and that's fine, it generates good discussion.

My only disagreement with your comments is that I give our team a better chance to beat both Baylor and ND than you do. UConn was in position to win both those games on their home courts, just did not finish. Since those losses, Kiah has come on to provide great post depth, and terrific defense and rebounding, and this young team has grown, especially on defense.
I like this attitude. But, I've forced myself to notice that Baylor and ND have also improved. Regardless of what happens the games will be interesting.

Ice, Doggy: I fervently hope that I am wrong, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to eat crow on this one. My concern is that we continue to look forward based on past expectations and results and tend to ignore unwanted trends that are appearing right in front of us. That just might not turn out to be a correct approach (the essence of my Rose-colored analogy). I particularly fret about the GT game upcoming.
No need to worry. Who expected Caroline to have a monster game? Who expected Tiffany to break the scoring record for two consecutive games? This is a multi dimensional team. I can't wait to see who will be the next Husky to delight us.

People fret about how to guard ND but no one seems to ask, how is ND going to guard UConn? Since the Jan. 7 game, CD, Tiff, Kiah and even Stef have picked up their games. But more importantly, what has been happening is that someone has been stepping up to lead the team each game, not just depending on Bria to score 25 every night. That makes UConn harder to defend. So, will teams seeing UConn for the second time be at an advantage or disadvantage?

One thing I did notice that Lville did a few times that seemed to of slowed down our offensive was to double team off the pick-n-roll at the top of the key. ND did this late in the game and UCONN turned the ball over quite a bit. Dev. Peters with her long arms and athleticism will cause problems for UCONN until they learn how to come out of that trap.

I agree that CD, Tiff, Kiah, and Stef are all better players. I cant wait for Feb 27th!!
