It's bizarre to see a thread originally asking what the guy is up to, where's he playing, etc, and folks use it as an excuse to come out and bash him.

But at some point you have to move on and forgive the things a kid did wrong, and acknowledge the positive things he did. Personally, I think the monster game he played in the national championship outweighs the bad.

This is not remotely weird on the Boneyard. I've said it recently, but, when you still have people with an axe to grind about Taliek Brown, a guy who played over a decade ago now (and won a NC), you realize that no amount of time is long enough to remove the collectve bugs from certain peoples' arses.

AO could have exited gracefully and he would be thought of a lot more warmly on the board. He didn't. It is what it is.

I hate when people group him with Roscoe as if it were the same situation. Roscoe did what he thought was best for him (whether he agrees with that decision in hindsight is debatable) but he was a lot more classy about it. Thus they are view differently by many on the board, myself included.

AO was/is a talented player who was bombarded with bad advice from close friends and family. He ultimately ended up saying things that he shouldn't have that left me and most of this board royally pi$$ed for a while, but I can't stay angry forever with someone who helped us get an NC unless they do something far worse than engaging in unprofessional whining.

I didn't like how AO was a distraction in 2011-12 but you can't hold a grudge forever, I look at AO the same way I look at Plaxico Burress, I will always be grateful for the Super Bowl Plax helped the Giants won and try not to hold a grudge on what happened the year after, and thats the way I look at AO.

I wish the kid nothing but the best. Hope he finds a spot somewhere in the league.
As funny as it sounds, if both he and Roscoe make it (or Ator Majok for that matter), it will still count towards the numbers of UConn Alumni in the league (they are not UConn Grads but they are Alumni).

Oriakhi did us a favor by leaving (basketball wise, not locker room wise). It was a dead end season, and any minutes he got would have done us absolutely no good for this year. His departure forced us to do two things - give Nolan minutes before he was ready, and play DD (and Giffey) at the four. Those guys growing into those roles brought us a title. So, heck, in a way he helped us win two titles - one on the court and one by getting out of town and letting us develop a team without him (it was the right move for him as well, since he could play right away so I'm not saying it was an act of unselfishness by any means). Any of his comments on the way out the door can be attributed to a bit of immaturity. Perhaps I was a tad annoyed at one or two things he said, but oh well. Not everything said by adults in divorces or business partnerships dissolving is full of class either.

Personally, I think we should have tilted our contempt scale over time less towards Oriakhi and more towards Marcus Williams.

I'll be grateful and remember fondly AO's contribution to the 2011 season. I just don't give a crap about what happens to him anymore. 'Scoe I still root for. That's just me though.

In all likelihood, AO is doing precisely the same thing he would have been doing, had he stayed (albeit with one less ring).

I look forward to the day a thread like this can get started and someone will chime in with where he is playing, how well he is playing and a couple of stats for my education and entertainment.....

When I read some of this stuff, it really is disturbing. AO gave the team and Uconn 3 hard years. We went through adversity for his senior year and he did what he thought was best for himself--that is nothing to be bashed for. The problem with this website is that some comment s really should be deleted. There based on unfounded unwarranted hate, especially on young kids. I think some of you need to look in the mirror and stay away from the keyboard at times.

A 6-8 player who can't shoot, can't play perimeter D and has zero handle won't play in the league. Roscoe may have skipped his senior season, but it wasn't for the NBA, he's not going to sniff the NBA, it was to start his pro career in Turkey, Greece or somewhere like that.

AO is probably watching tape when his Mizzou team list to a loaded CSU Rams team in the 1st round 2 years ago. Probably hanging with Jamal Coombs-McDaniel.

He gave us 2, count them scrappy TWO "hard years"…….his junior year he was a detriment to the team and the university as well as disrespectful to our HOF coach…….I don't "hate" the kid, but he's not a Husky just because he won a ring. Can you name another player who disrespected JC especially after a title?? Again no hate here, just a total lack of respect for him, his attitude and his game. You have your opinion and that's fine, I do respect that but others elect to think about the kids who won and cared about UConn, JC and/or KO……….

And actually he doesn't deserve any more threads here so hopefully this is it…….this is the Boneyard for Husky fans to talk about the success of Huskies!

Right but I still look down at roscoe because he didn't have to leave and could have stayed with Shabazz. Probably would have been the missing piece to this mildly successful national championship squad. We needed rebounding and he had absurd rebounding numbers as a senior. Alex I don't dislike for leaving because he only had that one year, it's the way it went down and all the talk I hated.

Life is choices and Roscoe made his. I don't begrudge him for that and it worked out just fine for the university regardless. I wish him well.

Hey, Dougie Gottlieb recently said the same thing, something along the lines of UConn didn't have a very good season but just got hot during the tournament.

Isn't that exactly what happened? They finished 4th in the conference and got a seventh seed. They didn't have a particularly great regular season, they got hot in the tournament. What is wrong with what Gottlieb said?

[The "mildly successful national championship squad" thing is too stupid not to be sarcastic, I hope.]

For a guy that's "soft" he sure had some monster rebounding games on a national championship team.

Yes he did have some huge rebounding games in 2010-11 and was definitely a big part of the national championship run. I think he might have even been second in the BE in rebounding that year, as a sophomore.

As a junior it was a different story; soft. Went from just under 9 rpg to just under 5 rpg and looked like he mentally gave up when he realized he had to share minutes with Drummond.

AO is softer than milk-sogged Cap'n Crunch

Maybe not his soph year, but over that summer, he somehow transformed from Alex to Alexis
I still have flashbacks of him complaining about a foul while the opp lays it up on the other end.

AO had about 3 toes in. tops

I unfortunately have to admit to the same memories. Looked like he was going to cry every time a foul was called on him. When I think of him I think of a baby in a monster's body. My least favorite husky. Sorry to anyone whose sick of the AO bashing and feels much differently, but that's my AO opinion. Not even a sour grapes because of the transfer situation, because I don't feel even remotely similar about Roscoe. Oh well, best of luck to him.
