But but....Rutgers men's Basketball lost in the Final Four in 1976 AND they lost in the NIT final in 2004....beat that!!

Rutgers has a basketball team? Strange...I attended RU for 4 years and never noticed. BRB, doing google searches.

For the record, I live and work in Fairfield County CT. I kid you not when I say this but I never ever see a single car with a UCONN sticker or magnet. Go into NJ and you'll see the block R all over...heck I even see them in CT all the time.

This statement tells me you are a liar and throws everything else you say into question. I also live and work in Fairfield County and see many UConn stickers every day. It is the leading school in terms of applicants and enrollment from our high school every year. Increasingly we are even seeing multiple kids from the top 10 selecting our state U - which was a rare sight 10 years ago.

That's terrible. If I saw that happening I'd stop it in a heartbeat.

On a side note, I would never bring a young child to an opposing teams' stadium.
Or national heroes, like service academy students. Disgusting behavior.

Rutgers is the only flagship state university that doesn't contains its states name in its name. It's kind of like a parent giving their child a different last name so people don't associate the child with them. Even the hazardous waste capital of the world is embarassed by its state university.

It's the truth....I never see UCONN stuff here. Not even the coffee cups at Dunkin Donuts have the UCONN logo that I saw mentioned here in another thread.

Not chastising per se.....I am legitimately curious why such RU hate on here. Occasionally we'll have a UCONN thread on our boards but that's here and there. Rutgers gets mentioned on here multiple times a day.

Thanks for starting this inane thread. You guys have been 1A for like a million years and you slightly according to your data beat us in NYC. Congrats on your Geography cause that's the only thing that keeps you on life support.

I can't wait to see the RU fans reaction to finishing 5th-7th every year. Fun times.

I see RutgersAl was finally able to reproduce.

Come visit us at the end of the 2014 season.

After several years of closure resulting from an economic depression after the War of 1812, Queen's College reopened in 1825 and was renamed Rutgers College in honor of American Revolutionary War hero Colonel Henry Rutgers (1745–1830).

I'm pretty confident when I say that whatever crap you had happen to you at the Rent, you probably had it coming based on doing dumb like this.

Actually, yes, there is. Our all time football record vs UCONN is 22-10. Yup that's a .687 winning %.

It should be much better than that. Many thought it would be years before we got a D-1 win. Luckily we had Rutgers on the schedule. Rutgers gave us our 1st D-1 win immediately. Our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th wins against the same team as well.

Sure. Greenwich High class of 2012:

UConn 36 (51 if you include satellite campuses)
Rutgers 1

I guess none of those people ever put a UConn sticker on their car or, maybe, you have selective vision. Nah, you are just a liar.

The only time I ever saw fans from another team walking briskly through the parking lot saying "UConn sucks" was Rutgers guys.

Dude, Rutgers is closer to Greenwich than UCONN. Actually, Storrs is twice the distance from Greenwich.

Remember that Greenwich is the hedge fund capital. 90% of the people working @ hedge funds used to work for one of the big banks in NYC. The ibanks hire a ton out of Rutgers, especially since the campus is 40 minutes by train from the financial district. You can see why there would be a noticeable RU contingent in Greenwich. But I would still say that the Ivy Leaguers trump both RU/UCONN presence.

No idea but interesting if true.

UCONN is like that 5 out of 10 girl making fun of the sexy 9 that just walked in the bar (RU). :)

How has no one responded to this?

This situation is NOTHING like the situation you just described. The following situation is more appropriate:

UConn is like the 5'11" point guard who sets college on fire. Dropping 20 a game, 10 assist, wins player of the year (multiple national championships across several sports, wins more trophies than Rutgers and gets to a BCS bowl in 10 years before Rutgers in their #1 sport which they say we suck at). Everyone knows he can play, but he has a few inherent shortcomings with his height. (new football, off campus stadium). He has also made some other players in the NBA jealous along the way by being better than he should be (BC, Rutgers, Cuse).

Rutgers, on the other hand, is the absurdly doofy 7'3" center who is by all accounts terrible at basketball. For years, everyone has been saying that he can turn it around with the proper coaching, but has not even come close to that yet. He was born with a natural gift of being 7'3" (Rutgers NYC proximity), and has been able to do nothing with it.

With the last pick of the draft, the 7'3" kid, who has proven nothing, ever, and underachieved forever, is taken over the 5'11" kid as a project, because "you can't teach height".

This is why UConn fans are angry. You are terrible at everything, yet you were born with a gift that you have never taken advantage of and you were taken over a team that has earned the chance. Notice you never mention a single on the field accolade in your rant.

Also, ever hear of confirmation bias? This is what is leading you to selectively ignore the UConn support in Fairfield county.

Dude, You said you never see UConn presence (e.g. car stickers) in Fairfield County. I never said Rutgers didn't have a presence. I've seen Rutgers stuff, but it's at most 5% of UConn's throughout the county despite the fact that, as you noted, some towns are closer to Rutgers than Storrs. I chose the closest and that town is sending far more students to UConn (the source of car stickers is far more from current/recent students than 40+ year old alums working for hedge funds) by a ratio of 36:1. It's similar in my upper middle class town farther up county.

Bottom line: the relative presence of UConn and Rutgers isn't even close and your claim that you never see UConn signs just isn't credible - throwing doubt on the rest of your claims as well. Rather than admit that you either exaggerated or made up your point, you just insist on digging a deeper hole.

Who cares already. UCONN has a presence in Connecticut, Rutgers has a presence in NJ. End of story. Let this go away for good please and let's all move on.

If you guys are offended by our board too bad. Don't wonder what we r saying about you Stay off of it. We don't need people who spit on little kids coming here.

It is a joke that you name your school after a revolutionary war hero to give yourselves some credibility to the birth of this country. Ok you had a general. The first to say to the British was new englanders.

Why is it a joke? That's like saying that Sam Houston State shouldn't be named after the hero of the Alamo, or Johns Hopkins, James Madison, John Jay??? That is a dumb comment! The kin of Colonel Rutgers is tied very deeply into the University.

And come on dude. Nobody's offended. You have to admit, it is sort of entertaining.
