I created this name just to start this thread. What exactly is your beef with Rutgers? Seems that every other thread is mentioning "RUTTY" for some odd reason.
We have a great recruiting class so far and we pretty much never lose a recruit to UCONN that we wanted badly. Now that we are in the Big10 it's going to be 100x tougher for you to recruit the surrounding area (NJ,NY) and same goes for Syracuse. Heck, it is actually looking as if Temple has second dibs on NJ at the moment so you're really starting to fall off.
Your stadium is subpar compared to ours. Come on....40,000 seats and you want to go big time? I've been to 3 games at the Rent and there always are a ton of RU fans but the same cannot be said for UCONN fans coming to Piscataway. Our seating capacity is 30% more! Just think about that for a second, it's not 5% or even 10%....it's freaking 30%!
Lets talk about fans now as I share my 3 experiences at your stadium. I've had the following happen to me:
1. glass beer bottles left under my tires in the airfield
2. popcorn and random garbage continuously thrown at me while inside the stadium (I had second row seats on the 40 yrd line).
3. Some random guy put his fists in my face when RU scored during the Jasper game.
I usually go to a ton of away games and UCONN was by far the worst experience when it came to the fans. I felt like I was attending some local soccer game in england where people are throwing flares on the field and trying to burn the stadium down.
Spare me the "we won the big east" blabber. RU football did not start until 2005 and has been on a crazy trajectory. Hell, we had 20,000 people attend the spring game a few months ago which would have filled up half of your stadium. The past is the past but going forward RU is in a way better position to succeed. Not sure if you noticed but our recruiting classes over the last few years have always been in the top 2 for BigEast....these kids are just starting to hit the field so you can only imagine what is yet to come.
For the record, I live and work in Fairfield County CT. I kid you not when I say this but I never ever see a single car with a UCONN sticker or magnet. Go into NJ and you'll see the block R all over...heck I even see them in CT all the time.
You will most likely disagree with my above "semi-rant" but the truth is the truth. If you were that much better than RU then you would have been picked up by another conference. The whole thing about BC blocking you is bologna. If there was tremendous value in UCONN then ACC would have scooped you up without caring about BC. One thing that I've learned about living in Fairfield County is that MONEY TALKS. And it's a fact that UCONN does not bring any to the table otherwise you'd be discussing your 2014 schedule with new conference mates instead of your non stop "RUTTY" threads.
So what the hell is your beef with RU? Say what you want, we are going to be B1G and that's all that matters.
PS.
At one point I really wanted you to get out of the BigEast and join a real conference. But then I noticed the constant slander for RU.
