What is up with Mosqueda-Lewis?

I actually have seen her demand it a couple times. Granted not like Moore or DT, but then she has a couple years to go yet. I would expect her to be more demanding the next couple of years.

Not true. There are times when you go to the ball and times when you spot up and wait for rotation. Kaleena does both.

She demands the ball all the time. Watch her and you will she her clap for the ball when she is in an open space. That is calling for the ball.

Spot-on! She would be even better if she were less charitable and more selfish. Sacrifice on-court character development for W's.

Red Auerbach was once asked about what kind of game Tommy Heinsohn (a real gunner) had. Red said, "Great! He was 17-for-19." "You mean he made 17 baskets with 19 shots!?!" "Nah. He had 19 touches and took 17 shots."
 
Bria is not a good passer. She is either to late getting someone the ball or forces it.

Barkley was an undersized power forward who was a rebounding machine. He was dominant on the interior glass and could step out and hit the three. Durant is a do-everything small forward.

Generally, a "tweener" is someone, usually a forward, who is still small to play power forward but not quick enough or not having enough range to play small forward (think Tracy Reid, LaQuanda Barksdale, etc.).

I do not see KML as a tweener or a hybrid of Durant and Barkley. To me, she is more of a hybrid of Katie Douglas, Kara Lawson, and Seimone Augustus, but even that comparison is not 100 percent. She really is a unique player.
 
Was there anyone in the XL Center last night that did not hear Geno scream out "SHOOT THE G$#%D*@$ BALL!"? I bet it was heard on the television broadcast too.

I counted 3 instances where Geno could be heard swearing at the top of his lungs (audible on TV). Probably about 1/10 of the actual total......part of the 'problem' is that he screams like that when there isn't much crowd noise to cover it up...:rolleyes:

Kaleena operated the same way in USA basketball...she was never a glory hog to the point where some people wondered what all the hubbub was about. But, whenever the team needed baskets, she made them in bunches on demand. I remember one set of back-to-back games where Bria Hartley had the hot hand, and Kaleena deferred to her all the way. The next game, Bria cam out shooting co0ld, and Kaleena easily picked up the slack. My immediate thought last night was she was deferring either on her own or as part of a coached strategy...I can't imagine she was reluctant to shoot, can you?

My first business lunch was with Bechtel's head of engineering...my boss, the head of the Syncrude Project, and a guy my age we were recruiting from Stanford's graduate program. I ordered an iced tea and he followed suit, then my boss ordered a triple martini and the chief ordered the same...so I switched my order to a beer. Both of those guys had at least one more triple and then we went back to work and engineered something...
 
Mosqueda-Lewis took 12 shots last night. Ten were from outside and two were mid range jumpers. Her season average is 12 shots per game. She didn't disappear, she simply missed a couple more than usual. I also saw her calling for the ball a couple of times. She was standing in the open clapping her hands. Hartley the PG at the time either didn't see her or had other intentions. Maybe she should demand it more aggressively, like screaming "gimme' the ' ball" at the top of her lungs. What she didn't do last night, for whatever reason, was take the ball inside.

Auriemma has commented that he wants her to shoot more, but IMO that doesn't equate to disappearing.

At one time I had an office in a local shipyard. At lunchtime the workers would all rush out to the bars outside the gate and slam down shots and beers prestaged in front of "their" barstool. Others chose to head to their cars to blow a joint.
Then they would return to building nuclear submarines.

Guess that explains all those skeletons in the bulkheads...I understand that's why the Navy developed PERT in the 1950's...

Kaleena, if she wanted to be (and sometimes is depending on the lineup), absolutely would be an undersized power forward and rebounding machine. Durant is not exactly a small forward, nor does he exactly do everything. But what he can do is shoot the crap out of the ball. I think my comparison is apt.
 
Since when is KML a power forward? Just because she occasionally plays the 4 does not make her a power forward.
 
Kaleena has had 4 games where she didn't score in double figures and one of those was her first game back after suffering a concussion. She's led the team in scoring 16 times, in rebounding 6 times and she's second on the team in steals. All this with defenders draped on her. And she's a sophomore, people.

I heard him. I, too was shouting at the players at various times using pretty much the same vernacular. I am not proud if it.

and my sister who is now deaf in one ear because of all the shouting isn't too happy with me either....:confused:

I also remembered it as being about KML but I may be mistaken.
 
Geno's philosophy is that he'd rather someone take a shot and missed that passing the ball around until there is a turn over. He gets really mad when players don't shoot when open but instead they tried to thread a needle into a crowded area and turned the ball over. He is OK with Bria Hartley missing shots after shots when she was open and not happy when she missed the perfect pass. I wished KML would shoot more when she is barely open than having someone else missed a wide open shot (usually Doty or even Bria this year).

He may have said that about Stewart, I don't remember that, but he did say it about KML.

"Particularly if they don't have to guard your teammates." What on Earth are you talking about? Which players on UCONN can you leave unguarded?
