I watched her particularly in the game last night and was shocked to see her pass the ball when she was open. 8 points really? I hope she won't disappear in tonights game. We really, really need her.

She had 14 points, not 8. She's a gamer and a champ. A 14-point performance is hardly a "what is up with" moment.

I remember the play where she tried a bounce pass to Stef on the baseline, and Stef couldn't corral the pass. Using various terms and gestures of his own choosing, Geno 'opined' at the subsequent stoppage of play that KML should consider shooting from that spot in the future.......

As Geno mentioned at halftime, the Cuse was sticking tight to KML so she didn't get a lot of looks. And the 2nd half - well, everybody seemed a bit out of it, mentally.

If you look at her recent games, I think KML has been looking for her shot quite well. There haven't been a lot of brain farts like that one play in the 2nd half when it comes to her putting the ball up.

What are you talking about?
She scored 14 and was the co-leading scorer.
And she a a defender stuck to her like glue all night from a very athletic team.
Jeez ... I didn't think anyone drank at lunch any more.
I drink at lunch often. :)

My dad used to tell me about those days - he was in sales and the 3-martini lunch wasn't too far from the truth according to him!

Wish I did drink, but I believe she has a tendency to disappear in games at times.

She is not a traditional guard. She is more of a tweener with a pure three point shot. Think Charles Barkley meets Kevin Durant.

The reason we've lost to ND is that our two best scorers need to be fed the ball in the right spots rather than creating their own shots. ND's two best scorers have the ball in their hands all the time, so even though they chuck a bunch of crap up, they're at least getting the opportunity to score. If Uconn had a better/more experienced pure PG at this point, this would be less of an issue, but we don't.

Last night especially, Geno played around with a lineup that he thought at one time would be the starting five (Bria, KML, Kelly, Breanna, Stef). The problem with that lineup is that, even though those are his best five kids on paper, Bria just isn't a true PG. And neither is anyone else of that five.

Tendency? At times?

I disagree with "tendency". Every player disappears at times.

Well then say she disappears instead of making up stats that are almost 50% off. If your boss left you that short in your check I am pretty sure you would be upset.

It's kinda goofy how folks toss around a word like "disappear" without backing it up with facts. What exactly do they mean -- did she stop being aggressive? did her teammates not give her the ball? did the defense make an adjustment?

Seems to me "Disappear" is a lazy description used when a fan wants a player to score more and can't figure out why they didn't.

I largely agree with this. I did notice for a very long stretch in the 2nd half, she stopped shooting, or rather, stopped getting open. I get that they guarded her tight, but the offense in general just did not look good. Additionally, there seemed to be no screens being set for her to get open.

Now having said that, I only saw the game live and it's very possible Syracuse was just playing really good defense. Either way, it wasn't just KML with limited offensive output in half 2. BTW, tho, keeping Syracuse to 27 or so points means to me we were playing good defense on the other end and that includes KML. So to say "what happened to her" seems incorrect. 4-10 from 3-point land is close to her average.

Kaleena needs to go to the ball. She does have that problem late in games. But I think the only thing that'll help her is if her teammates are scoring, so that she doesn't have all of the pressure on her. When you are a 50% three point shooter, defenders stick to you like glue..particularly if they don't have to guard your teammates.

She was open lots of time but Bria Hartley never looked at the left side when she had the ball and KML never got the ball there and when she did, it was too late.
I noticed they (the whole team) missed some open players last night. Their movement, especially in the 2nd half, around the zone was not real good. Just were not getting the right passes to the right people to get the zone out of position and get the open looks.

Well Geno has actually commented on this. After one game someone asked him why KML only took X number of shots? Geno said because that's all she wanted. If she wanted more she would have gotten herself more. I mentioned in another thread that is something she will have to work on for next year and her Sr year. Not let the game come to her, but go find it when necessary. And be willing to take shots from others. i.e. I think Geno believes she need to be more selfish in certain games and at certain times (or more often).

Moore pretty much went after and got her shots. DT would play others into the game, but if needed she could be selfish and she would go find her shots.

Seriously? She passed the ball in one game and there's a problem?

Aye yi yi...

I guess they didn't watch the last game of the season.

True. I have yet to see her DEMAND the ball like MM or DT did and then do something with it. She is not a one-on-one player yet but I can see that improve next year.
