Obviously this is just a hypothetical, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on what this team would look like with Kemba?

At the end of last season, I thought Lamb and Kemba were developing a scary chemistry with each other. Give them another year, and couple that with the lack of good point guards in D-1 right now, and they might be one of the best backcourts of the last ten years.

As Bilas said, Kemba "shames" his teammates into playing hard, so the consistent intensity that we are lacking this season would not be a problem. Oriakhi and Drummond are probably a lot better, since we now have another scoring option, a leader, and our defensive anchor.

I say they're 25-2, #3 behind UK and Cuse.

Of course it wasn't realistic for Kemba to have come back for his senior year, but man, what coulda been...

#2 with 1 loss @ Syracuse. We would jump to #1 after Saturday.

Not sure how that would be possible, UK would still be ahead and Cuse would be if they beat UConn at Cuse. Teams just don't drop unless they lose and neither Cuse nor UConn would leapfrog UK if they keep winning.

It would be 0-3 losses. I can't see anyone but Cuse/UL and Marquette having beaten UConn, but those 3 could have. Cuse and UL especially, as they were on the road. At the least all three games are considerably closer. Of course this also means that UConn would have handed Harvard two losses and not played FSU.

I say 24-3, with losses to Cuse, UL, and one of either Gtown, Marq, or ND.

37-0.

Don't ask me for specifics, I just got a hunch.

If we could just add a historic player, I'd go with Magic Johnson or Lew Alcinder.

Well at least in theory, Kemba could have been on this team.

Of course, Put Irving on Duke, or Knight on UK and those teams both get much better also.

The team would probably have the same winning percentage now as they did during the last 11 games of last season with kemba

Kentucky could potentially have a starting five of Wall, Lamb, Kidd-Gilchrist, Davis, and Cousins with Knight, Bledsoe, Terrence Jones, Marquis Teage, Darius Miller, and Daniel Orton coming off the bench.

That would have sucked.

If we had Kemba, we would have been ranked higher than KY jelly at the start and unless we lost to a team ranked lower than them we'd still be ahead of them. Hard to think of the National Champs losing only two minor role players and not starting the season #1.

I think somebody needs to create a Boneyard chart on this matter

Maybe I misread the post. So to start the season UConn would be #1, UK #2 and Cuse #3 or that would be the rating before UK loses to IU. Then UK drops to #3 and Cuse to #2, Cuse loses to ND and drops, allowing UK to move up to #2, UConn loses to Cuse, dropping UConn to #2 and moving UK to #1. Thus UK would be #1 until they lose.

UConn would have been consensus #1 with EZ-Pass ahead of North Carolina, Kentucky and Ohio State ( the preseason 1-3). UConn opened @ #4. Syracuse was #5.

Syracuse lost by 9 @ ND on 1/21. That loss dropped SU to #3 AP and #4 ESPN/USA on 1/23. Regardless of whether Kemba came back SU was locked in at #5 preseason.

Kentucky the consensus preseason #2 lost to unranked Indiana on 12/10. Kentucky falls to #3 in both polls after the loss.

My arguement is with the greatest player to ever play at UConn the Huskies would have rode into the Carrier Dome undefeated and ranked #1 on 2/11. In my speculative analysis even with Kemba we drop this 1 to Cuse. Cuse then vaults to the #1 slot after beating UConn by 1 point on a buzzer beater. UConn falls to #2 in both the AP and USA Today polls and Kentucky stays at #3 (UConn loses @ Cuse and Kentucky @ unranked Indiana). So hypothetically going into the game tomorrow all three teams have 1 loss with Cuse ranked #1, UConn #2 and Kentucky #3. Uconn then knocks out Cuse tomorrow with Kemba pushing them back to the #1 ranking as of Monday February 27th at 1PM EST. JMHO

I guess it could happen that way, usually though it's hard to jump teams that aren't losing.

I like some of the recent changes at UConn so I am now wearing my blue and white goggles! :D
