Size is important today. Most of the bigs back in the day were tall but not necessarily great athletes where today you are seeing both. Uconn didn't have the size to deal with a few teams the last few years just like teams back in Stewie's day couldn't match up with UConn. The other thing is NO team overlooks UConn so they are always getting every teams best effort so upsets are much more difficult.
I agree everything is more important, but not just size. But absolutely we want Jana and everyone else to improve. And just a note: Iowa did well without much overall size and 2 years ago UCONN beat Iowa (that Iowa team that knocked out SoCar), without Paige. SO if Iowa can get to two straight Finals without much size, imagine the potential of what Paige/Azzi/Sarah can do?
The thing is, we know when you are labeled a superstar it generally means you make other players better. And you don't have to be a literal superstar to make others better. Thus imagine what Paige/Azzi/Sarah could do once this trio rounds into a supreme unit and what it can do for all the UCONN surrounding players?
Teams could throw a box-and-one as an example to go all out to stop 1 player. Teams can throw a "triangle-and-two" to try to contain two players but once you put three on the court and they all can pass and shoot, then the potential for all the surrounding players can grow by a lot. It's the superstars that make others better and we have up to 3 maybe! Gotta love it!
This ND vs UCONN matchu p is aweosme, a team's strength pitted against another team's simailr strength of which the potential quality from both is outrageous. it's in part why I'm such a fan of wcbb. The star players stay for 4 years thus the potential quality of play can get freakishly great in these type of matchups. This matchup is great for the game.
