Good morning everyone I just joined the Boneyard Family. Long time follower and supporter of Womens Athletics including coaching various teams in the past.
My post refers to how injuries have impacted the Championship total. I know it’s “spilt milk” but I think 3or4 more. What do you all think?

I was going back to 2000. I know injuries are a part of being an Athlete but not all injuries cost teams Championships the way the hurt UConn. I’m retired so maybe I’ll do some research about all types of teams since 2000.

Welcome, the thing is that unless one of us has a crystal ball there is no way we can categorically know that we would have had any more titles than we do now. Nice to dream about it but I'll take 11 be thrilled with them and hope for more.
There has been much speculation about this teams return to the very top once we have more experience, I have learned that, nothing is for sure as there are a number of teams out there that feel exactly as we do. They are out there speculating the same as we are. The fun will come when all the players are more comfortable with their teams and more of the top 25 play each other. Go Huskies.

I think Megan Walker leaving early was also detrimental to boththe player and UConn. It took a long time to get the starting lineup "caught up."
Megan always left me wanting more. Parts of her game were slick and parts wanting which I ascribed to lack of desire. Had I said that at the time I would have been traded to Tennessee for a low draft choice.

Love you post here jerseyguy,. I believe your post is relevant because imo sometimes it gets lost here how much the injuries have impacted hw the percpetion of the game has gone/is going.

The infatuation with size for example is overrated imo but ofc a fun topic to always discuss if you wish. Or posts that "Geno's style is no longer relevaant," though this type of post hasn't ben stated in a very long time. Or comparing our past injuires and equating them that other teams have had the same. . .

What level did you coach? And what do you like about Geno's style and don't like? Why do I get the feeling that you will disagree with me on the size point? haha -

Size is important today. Most of the bigs back in the day were tall but not necessarily great athletes where today you are seeing both. Uconn didn't have the size to deal with a few teams the last few years just like teams back in Stewie's day couldn't match up with UConn. The other thing is NO team overlooks UConn so they are always getting every teams best effort so upsets are much more difficult.

It’s always fun to think of what might have been- even though our cups are usually either overflowing or close to spilling but the other issue that would have to be considered are the injuries to the other top 5/10 contenders also. We caught a few “breaks” with opponent’s injuries also. It’s painful when anyone’s key players go down.
