plans? right now, it feels more like a floating crap game. lol.
'mensch tracht un Got lacht' - man plans and God laughs.
the good news is that the super was banging today with lots of folks buying thanksgiving foods. i asked a manager how 'mount frozen turkeys' was selling, and he said 'better than we thought.' nice.
personally, there will be some roasted turkey and pecan pie on my plate. wherever. garuntee.
iff'n the cards break a certain way and a certain grammar school niece is at the table, there could be trouble with some of the bird parts. kid is a waif, eats like a horse, and has developed into a turkeyholic, just like her unk. ribeyes, too.
'touch that wing kid, and i'll reprogram ur phone when u ain't lookin!'

My daughter is having dinner-we went last year around 12 total. It is 2 miles down the street, but my wife is now bed ridden and eats only pureed food. So what looks like her last Thanksgiving, we will spend home together. I may order a take out dinner-Not really, and not looking forward to it.
All the best to you, madman. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. And it's been a while.

Yeah, she has been on in home hospice for 2 1/2 years. 9 months ago she had a choking incident and was on life support. She has been home declining but it had slowed to the point Medicare was trying to remove her from hospice. That was like 3 or 4 weeks ago. A little less than a week ago, she started declining rapidly. Seems like it's time. Hard time breathing and swallowing which is the last stage. I have done my best to make up for any times in the past when I was not the best husband. That's all I can do at this point.

Awesome way to spend time with your loved one with end of life care.

wife is working at the hospital Thu-Sun so it's just me and the kiddos (2yr and 7mo). I already got the pigs in blankets...I'm thinking I'll pair it with a nice can of baked beans and break into my advent calendar (whiskey calendar from Flaviar).

I usually have my 2 closest friends (and the wags) over and we deep fry a turkey, but we're all being safe and skipping it this year. If I get really ambitious I might still deep fry a breast but my propane tank just kicked yesterday so that's gonna require me getting that swapped in a timely manner, which is unlikely at best.

All the best to you Madman, and I am wishing your wife comfort as her jourmey comes to an end. She can't say it, but your dedication these past years means the world to her. I will always remember the look on her face in that video you posted a couple years back. It was obvious that she had total trust in you to care for her

I moved to Florida last year and we traveled to CT for Thanksgiving with my siblings. This year, the wife and I will stay home and have a turkey with plenty of leftovers for just us two.

I had plans to go to Colorado the week after Thanksgiving for a business function near a ski area and fortunately that was recently postponed to April 2021. The only bummer is that I reserved two nights in Aspen after the event and that is not refundable. I will see what I can do to get that money back but it will be a challenge. I reserved prior to the third wave and should have picked a refundable option but I was too hopeful. Many Colorado counties are now level red.

Appreciate the kind thoughts. She has been fighting for well over 2 years. Seems like she is not wanting to fight any more.

So sorry to hear that, but long term illnesses just wear people down and they know best when they can no longer fight it. Best wishes for you both at a tough time of year.

Eight of us annually gather at a neighbor's house down the street and this year will be no exception. She always has two turkeys and the rest of us bring the other dishes bottles of wine and desserts. I'll do my version of clams casino as an appetizer and the wine and drinks will flow. Viruses can't handle clams..............or my high doses of Vitamin D.

My sister hosts Thanksgiving each year and she will host again with her husband and three kids who are all under 10. They’ve been quarantining for 14 days and got back negative tests.

My mom and other sister live basically in isolation, so they don’t need tests but my wife and I took tests once our school forced us to quarantine after positive tests from two students.

In summary, 8 in total, conditional of quarantining and negative tests. We’re all also with 20 minutes of each other.

Having a 1 o’clock thanksgiving might have slightly over 10 people  looking like 12 due to 4 kids all 6 and under, keeping it real short, then peace and quite and laziness watching football. Usually at my relatives with 20 people.

Had planned to continue our tradition and welcome my wife's brother and his family from Pittsburgh. We vacation with them in OCNJ, and it's their turn to drive East.

They were planning on coming as recent as two weeks ago, but then got word from their school district that their daughters would have to quarantine for two weeks if they spend more than 24 hours out of state, regardless of test result.

It will be just the four of us for Thanksgiving, but will have enough food for a proper holiday. I will smoke a full chicken and a turkey loin, and we will have a small ham loaf along with the tradition sides.

I am also planning to prepare some bacon wrapped stuffing as well.

My wife is super nurse taking care of covid patients. My 6 month old and I will opt out of our typical thanksgiving (30+ ppl) and see if we can safely make a Turkey dinner with dessert and surprise her when she comes home. I’m trying haha

Thanks to your wife for all she does and to you for dealing with all that you must be dealing with. It’s families like yours that give me hope that we’ll get through this

For the past 25 years, we've had Thanksgiving at my daughter's. She lives 15 minutes from us. But neither of the grandkids is there any longer -- Granddaughter is in Vermont, Grandson in Michigan. So it's just the two of us, and the two of them. Being the epitome of the high risk couple, we are staying home, and so are my daughter and son-in-law. We're all having turkey. Will each put the Portal on the table have a virtual get together for Thanksgiving dinner.
Sigh.
This and our traditional Christmas Eve repast with all the local relatives (Wigilia, for the Poles in the crowd) are my two favorite Holidays of the year. They are both going to suck big time this year.

Usually go to wife's cousin's house, about 20 people. Not this year. Staying home and having turkey tenderloin, counting the hours to what is hopefully season 3 game 2 on Friday night.

I'm glad that so many here are being responsible.

My wife and I have been "podding" with a friend and her son (who my wife tutors) down here in NYC. We'll be going over there, bringing stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes and a big old bowl of peas. Friend is smoking a turkey and making salad.

We'll have Zoom open so we can eat and drink with friends. And at some point I will facetime with my mom, who's 75 and lives alone and is appropriately paranoid about Covid. She usually has ~20ish in for Thanksgiving. Gonna be a difficult year for her.

My wife's family are insane, borderline "it's a hoax!" people who will be putting 20 into a little house in Southern California. Light a candle and say a prayer for them -- and the medical professionals who may end up having to treat them.

we’re having the usually gathering. Mom, brother, Aunt, daughter, daughter’s friend, mom’s best friend, mom’s best friend’s two kids. We’ll leave the door open for any neighbors who decide to stop in. I’m doing all of the cooking. Turkey, Spiral Ham, Twice Baked Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy, Celery n Cream Cheese, Cheese n Crackers, Chocolate Chip Cookies

We've decided it'll just be the 3 of us (wife, daughter and I) here at home, with way too much food.
