Not like they’re gonna show a slow day in the ER where everyone catches up on their Medicaid paperwork.

And Wylie is really, really good at this.

It's more than an ER Doc sees in a career and it was supposed to be just a single busy day in the ER. It's supposed to be a realistic show and that obviously isn't realistic but whatever, I'm able to suspend my disbelief. The biggest problem was they played into every cultural stereotype we're currently dealing with in society. There was a really good show in there but they couldn't help themselves which is too bad because the acting from Noah Wyle, Shawn Hatosy, and several others was great.

Nah. Minnie was the ideal girlfriend. Good Will Hunting, Grosse Pointe Blank... how could you not want that woman in your life? Kate wasn't far behind but for different reasons. I still enjoy both of them Minnie on the old Craig Ferguson show was a delight. Kate's held her ground and just seems as real (non-Hollywood) as it gets from an Oscar winner.

Close was someone to run from.

i'm watching Masters of the Air. It's made by the same producers of Band of Brothers and The Pacific. I'll spare any significant of write up since I'm sure most people on the board have already seen it. It's mostly about the B-17 (Flying Fortress) bombers in their daylight raids over Germany. Their losses were astounding. Interestingly, the B-17's actually did take down a significant number of German fighters. If you ask the gun Kruse, that number would be over 1000, but realistically, it's probably 3 to 400 planes that the bombers shot down. I just saw a scene with B-17's flying to bomb Berlin. German fighters were swarming around them trying to shoot them down, American P 51s were flying around, trying to shoot the German fighters down, and the B-17 gun crew are all firing. It looked like someone kicked a hornets nest.

It's interesting and I'm enjoying it, but it doesn't compare to Band of Brothers, which was an amazing series.

Look into the detail that went into making it. Every pilot or call sign and everything painted on those plans is exactly as it was. If you see a plane go down and a pilot bail, then that is when and where that plane went down and that guy was the guy. Even where it is CGI, every plane and person is in formation where they were on that mission.

I remembered South Park as being clever, edgy and fearless. My kids watch it, and now it seems lame and offensive for the sake of being offensive. Was it always this way? And there is way too much Cartman. The character is fine as a foil, but he is the central character in half the episodes over the last 10 years.

I haven't seen a new episode in years. It was always hit and miss for me. Hey, they tell you right in the beginning it's offensive to everyone and no one should watch it.

It isn't really streaming anywhere. I saw the whole Blu-Ray set on sale at Black Friday and bought it. Last night I decided to start watching. It's a terrific show, looks a little better in HD, but not to modern UHD standards. Was shot in HD but never aired in HD. But the really interesting thing is watching this post Chat GPT and the AI explosion that is going on. Really gives it a slightly different vibe. I have an urge to go buy a classic car with no computer chips.

This was a good show. It ended up getting a little ponderous at the end. That's different than the original show, which also started out pretty good but then evolved into silliness.

This is one of the OG great cable tv shows in my opinion. Great cast, great writing and a mystery. The Pilot which was a movie was really good and a little scary for its time.

The Bear

Season 4 was way better than season 3. Less pretentious and a lot less boring. The biggest problem with the show is the show is all about Carm and he's an uninteresting character. We get it, his brother died and he's from a dysfunctional family but the guy is a snooze. 98% of the time it's that same stupid emotionless expression and then 2% of the time he blows up. Everything is about him and everything builds up to what's going to happen with him, but I just don't care about him. I've seen Jeremy Allen White in three things, Shameless, The Bear, and The Iron Claw and it's always the same emotionless expression.

I'm glad they fleshed out Syd's character way more. The relationship between her and Richie is the best part of the show and they're the real backbone of the restaurant. I like how the season ended for them.

Also now watching Sandman Season 2. It verges on American Gods if you like that, but it's darker. Sterridge is good, but would have preferred an ex-Dr. Who.

Watched a couple episodes of "Untamed" on Netflix. Possible murder investigation taking place in Yosemite National Park. Stars Eric Bana and also includes Sam Neil. Not quite sure what I think so far, but the scenery is spectacular. At least some of it really is Yosemite, the Valley is unmistakable.

Stick on AppleTV. By the numbers comedy is well cast and has an interesting premise. Owen Wilson is perfect for the role of a screw up ex-golf star. I like the kid, and through three episodes the girl from the clubhouse has potential. But something is just missing. There isn’t great chemistry between the cast at times so scenes that should be funnier just kind of miss.

This script was clearly written for Owen Wilson, and he was absolutely perfect for the role. The mom didn't really improve, but she had a smaller role as the season went on, which was the right call by the show runners.

Big thumbs up. I hope it gets another season. There is still a lot to say about these characters.

I searched but didn't see any mention of it in this thread, but Shoresy is fantastic. I've ripped through 22 of 24 episodes in a week. It's a raunchy, mindless and feel-good comedy Hockey series from Canada. Super quotable and there are some ridiculously gorgeous women who grace the screen. Jared Keeso also did Letterkenny which I will dial up next.

Letterkenny on Hulu was fantastic. Over the top, quick-witted nonsense. Loved all 80+ episodes.

I wish someone else was watching Three Women because I can’t tell if I am getting this show completely wrong or what. I like it more with every episode even though in some ways the show is completely spiraling. I have three episodes left and I give this show a 20% chance to stick the landing, but maybe the ending isn’t the point.

This show just has quality writing without resorting to gimmicks or emotional manipulation. All the characters are flawed, but in very real and relatable ways. Gilpin and Woodley deserve Emmy nominations.

And for those interested in this kind of thing, there is a lot of skin. Like a lot, a lot. There is a 15 minute montage involving almost all the characters in separate scenes in the second half of the sixth episode that gives a pretty good flavor of what I mean.

Sandman. Season 2 is out. The casting for Morpheus, Nuala & Delerium is superb. Despite a few creative casting choices in season 1 (the choice for Death was just straight up bad but I am ok with Lucienne b/c the actress nails the character), the show is very true to the source material, which is brilliant. Just watched episode 3 and it was very good, I suppose because that story was very good. Gaiman is a master of weaving historical details, myths and legends together into a story. For Netflix, the production value is quite high. They actually must have spent something on this one for a change.

He has a very distinct look and style to him and I think he’s playing Bruce Springsteen in a biopic which I thought was a pretty strange choice considering they don’t really look alike. I feel like I’ll be saying “Oh there’s the guy from The Bear playing The Boss” the whole time if I end up watching it. If there were a Gene Wilder biopic, he’s the guy you want…
