Excuse the poor quality, but this one always comes to mind as the first time I realized a Connecticut basketball team could win something.

This was the first photo that I thought of. Very important in UConn’s history

I've mentioned it before because this moment was so seminal in my childhood. But Calhoun consoling a devastated Kevin Freeman in his last game in uniform stuck with me after all these years. and i found the photo of it

and of Freeman losing it on the court during that same game

I don't think I made my point clear enough. That loss to Duke definitely fueled that "bridesmaid and never the bride" fire that eventually culminated in the 1999 title. That 99 title had the momentum behind it to prove we weren't a one time fluke. It was a huge part of the origin story of where we are now.
