Good quality team win but we need more from our 5th year senior

Usually yes but this team can play well without him scoring.

UConn made their run in 1st half with Whaley and Martin on bench and extended lead in second half doing the same.

Nice thing about this roster is outside if Cole and Sanogo Hurley can go with hot hand and mix and match.

I thought that Whaley after a slow start began to find himself on defense. He was good on the ball and blocked two shots and changed others. Good signs.

Martin wasn’t much better he was like 1-7 from the floor.

Whaley never got in the flow with two quick fouls. Martin seemed like he was somewhere else. But we have options which is nice.

Hes been very inconsistent this season. He needs to play better and be consistent or we will be in trouble come march unless Akok takes his game up a couple levels. Whaley has also been abysmal this season guarding in the post.

He hasn’t been the same since he hurt his ankle. I wonder if its worse than we realize. I feel like I see a little limp when he runs but that might be my imagination.

Whaley never really stuffs the stat sheet... he does so many little things well that are important but don't show up on the stat sheet... like setting screens, moving the ball, and great hedging/defense.

Early, he had 2 open looks from 3 within the flow of the offense, and missed them both. Then he got in some foul trouble. No biggie. It happens.

It's dumb to post the 0s of his stat line, but intentionally leave out that he had 2 blocks and not mention he only played 10 mins because of foul trouble.

Leave it to the Yard to find something to complain about after a decent all-around team effort and comfortable win. Whaley will be fine.

No drama, solid win. Those are the Ws we must take to bank along the way.

I didn't really like him being put back in with 2 fouls in the first half. I think we'd have seen a better 2nd half from Whaley had he not picked up #3.
I guess they could have gone with Akok at the 5, but it was after Sanogo picked up his 2nd so one of them needed to play with 2

Maybe I'm being too insecure, but I'm taking this thread as a dig against me starting Whaley last night in @MyDorona's Big East Fantasy Basketball League.

In all seriousness, Whaley is no dummy. After three missed three pointers, he realized last night wasn't his night and instead of forcing it, he focused on what he does best: protect the rim and make energy plays.

There might be nights where his shot isn't going in, but Whaley will never kill us with overshooting.

For example, after a 7-18 shooting start to the season, 10 of 11 of Whaley's most recent games have either resulted in a 50%+ fg% or only three FGAs.

Something just isn't right with Whaley. I'm not sure if it's lingering effects from the ankle injury, but he just isn't the same player he was last year...even on the defensive end. Butler is not good. Perhaps some rest will do him good.

IW has had some tremendous games for this team throughout the years
The kid is coming of injuries and ailments this season
One player I'm least worried about is IW

I'll give him a pass and chaulk it up to him maybe not feeling well. Otherwise, hard to explain a game with no stats except a block.

Isaiah hasn’t been as good as he was last year on the defensive end. Seems to bite on pump fakes a lot more leading to fouls
