And the same people would be asking for his head after three weeks.

You act like they were wrong last time. This sentiment is absurd. Maybe wait to criticize the critics... For when they are actially wrong.

People need to chill. A normal down year was exacerbated by two geezers who were asleep at the wheel, and then the new coach decides to start a true frosh at qb. These kind of games are going to happen. Weist and hughes are competent, nothing more, and vince lombardi with Belichek at DC and Bill Walsh at OC would not be able to win much this year with this UConn team.

It is what it is. If it makes you this upset, watch something else, because I can guarantee next week will be ugly too.

I'm glad it is Weist in control of the true freshman. Remember, FHCPP was going to start Boyle as well.

I think we fooled ourselves. This team is not any good. The punter and kicker are terrible. No way around it. That punt out from near the goal line was so bad, makes you wish we went for it on fourth and one. The defense doesn't have anyone on the DL that can get off a block and provide pressure. The offense has among other issues, a 5th year returning right tackle that gets alligator arms while pass blocking a man right in front of him. In short we suck.

We all blamed PGDL for losing to Towson, but there is little talent out there. Have to call like it is. There has been some improvement on the oline overall but we are just not good. AT all.

The one positive, is that if he survives, next year Boyle will be ready for the speed of the game.

This is a very accurate assessment. Far too little BCS caliber talent. Lines - both offense and defense - are just awful.

To say this a 3-5 year process is just absurd. This team can show improvement next year, if not the rest of this year.

Does "show improvement" do it for you? I want the FB to be competitive. One could argue that "this team can show improvement" just by not getting blown out again this year and going 1 game above .500 next year in a bad conference. That is not what I am talking about. I mean it will take minimum of 5 years to get to the point where we win 8 games, are considered for a reasonable bowl and are capable of beating a team from the upper half of a P5 conference. I think most people would see that as reasonable measure of success. Just showing improvement from where we are now will not fill the Rent. Or pay the rent for that matter.

Nope they suck and its ruining our basketball program!

Great, get left behind then in the non-football conferences when the football schools split. Have fun as the best of the nobodies.

I am sure the Indiana football team (who we beat both times we played) ruined their basketball program. Excellent logic.

I don't agree with TateisGreat, but if "the football schools split" they "ain't invitin no trashy AAC football schools to join them". They will do it to get away from the AAC, MAC, etc. You can make book on that.

They will split. We'll see if UConn is left behind.

I think this kind of shows the changes we fans have been asking for didn't work also. New head coach? Check. Foley as OL coach? Check.
Boyle at QB? Check. Results? One TD in two weeks so far. Offense has essentially allowed two TD's. Boyle fumble last week and INT returned to one this week. The more things change the more they stay the same.

With all due respect if you don't see the offensive pace and the playcalling is 1,000,000 percent better you are blind. obviously the results are poor. And there's a talent gap. But these kids have been mentally beaten down so badly in the past 2 1/2 years finishing a drive now is as much a mental hurdle as it is a physical one. I expect there to be tangible progress before Dec. 7. Will it translate into wins? Probably not a lot. The silver lining is this might be a replay of Orlovsky's first year. All this "we're screwed for a long time" is crap

Nice picture. I am proud of it as well.

You do realize however that there was a time (not all that long ago, at least from my perspective) when our men's soccer and women's field hockey programs were able to view our men's hoops program as an embarrassment in similar proportions to what you (as a men's hoops fan) currently view the football program.

How far back do you remember about UCONN basketball history? Do you remember how bad UCONN hoops SUCKED under Dom Perno...or do you just remember Calhoun's teams and the winning seasons?

He doesn't remember back that far FfldCnty! He can't remember how bad we were under Perno at the end...or how Men's soccer and women's field hockey were national powers during that time. Because if he did..he wouldn't be making the idiotic statements he has posted im this thread!

He fails to realize the great Yankee Conference Connecticut Huskies football program paved the way for basketball.

Honest question for TateIsGreat: why bash the football program?

Because that is what microwave, college kids do. A perfect example is kids who will jump off KO's bandwagon, in a heartbeat, if he were to lose multiple games he should win. (not gonna happen by the way)

If you monitor the BB board during games you will see kid posters who throw every player and coach under the bus half way through the first half, down by 8 points.

The BB board's average age I'll bet is 16-29 (minus the football cross overs) where the FB board I'll bet averages 21-60.

While we suffer with the occasional drunken youth here on the FB board, the BB is much, much worse. Remember they have over 30 games.

It's a blessing when BB season starts. The ignorance on this board drops dramatically.

Remember the BB board fans only have to figure out 5 positions. Give them 22 and they get all duckckin confused.

While the football team isn't highly ranked; UConn is a top 5 school in most dysfunctional fanbases.

Ignoring how idiotic Tate's overall premise is - Art's jihad against people who post on the basketball board is incredible.

Granted I often giggle to myself when women's basketball fans try to draw parallels between that sport and others, but are there other schools which such disdain between large factions?

In football mad SEC territory I'd wager a TON this happens at Tennessee.

When I was at grad school at UT-Knoxville in the mid '70's, they had been to bowl games 10 years in a row. However, they weren't the right bowl games. They were expected to compete for the national title annually. So some alumni paid for moving vans to show up in front of the coach, Bill Battle's, house. After the bowl game that year, which UT won, they fired Bill Battle. Shortly thereafter they announced that they had hired Johnny Majors (ex-UT All-American) away from Pitt where he had won the national championship just 2 years before. They all had great things to say about Billy Battle, "He's a fine gentleman and a good Christian." In Tennessee being a good Christian is of major import. Ironically, all these years later, Billy Battle was hired by his alma mater Alabama to serve as interim Athletic Director to clean up some of the mess they have down there. Those years when they were 7-4 were like they were 4-7. It just wasn't acceptable. They must be going nuts down there now. Although they gave GA a good game losing in ot and they really should have won, and they beat South Carolina last weekend. They can turn things around a lot quicker down there.

You think they have basketball and football fans who are odds with each other?
