What we could have done in the ACC compared to what BC has done. It's sickening.
Does UConn want to be in the ACC? The league plays terrible football and basketball (except Duke and sometime UNC and NC State). I think we are heading to a P2 for football.Perfect example of why we belong. Just showed this to my neighbor. He’s a Florida fan. He goes, “So, they are the two worst programs in ACC since 2024?” I said, “No, UConn football isn’t in the ACC, we’re Independent”. He goes, “Oh yeah, I guess I knew that cuz basketball is in the Big East, I never really thought about it”. I had to explain the tweet.
He didn’t even understand because nobody really thinks we shouldn’t be in a P4. Even the people that say we shouldn’t don’t actually believe it, they’re just being nasty. We should be in the ACC.

Virginia Tech just beat Providence (in basketball obviously) in a de facto home game for the friars at Mohegan. Big East really isn’t all that in basketball unless Nova and Georgetown get back to prominence.Does UConn want to be in the ACC? Looks like Georgetown might be pretty good this year. Nova should recover quickly with a real coach.Virginia Tech just beat Providence (in basketball obviously) in a de facto home game for the friars at Mohegan. We need them back, no doubt.Looks like Georgetown might be pretty good this year. Nova should recover quickly with a real coach.
The members make $50m a year in media rights. UConn makes $6m. The ACC is not that far off the BE in basketball. They still have Duke and North Carolina. If we found our way into the P2, it would be a massive surprise. We aren’t on their radar.
We need the money from the ACC or B12. Personally, I like playing basketball in the Big East, but we can’t do that long term and maintain our athletic department.

May not have either Miami, FSU, or UVA eitherFor now they do. They won't have North Carolina after 2031. They're gone.

Even if the ACC were to collapse I think you have to join it (if offered). Would really be no different than what is happening with the PAC12/MW right now. PAC12 inherited money and was able to poach nearly all of the MW. There isn’t really a scenario where the NBE is in a leverage position over the ACC leftovers.
If only...
I had that in the Duke post game thread and almost put it here. more relevant. What's up trevor 🤣
You’re right about the PAC12 but they are undoubtedly in a better position than the MW. I don’t believe any power conference will dissolve fully after seeing what the PAC2 did by hoarding the exit fees. They even kept their spot as an “autonomous 5” at least for another year or two.If it gets that bad then it will likely be worse. I could see the conference dissolve to the point where all that is left is Cuse, Wake and BC. At that point what would reform would be the same thing as the AAC.
Or they just lose 2-3 schools and it holds. That's the best case scenario.
PAC 12? They only took 5 schools and then struggled to find enough members to be official. It was sloppy and clumsy.
I think there would be at least 2 stages. First, perhaps 2-6 programs leave within a short time period and UConn and some AC programs get the invite to the ACC. Second, more programs leave and the ACC continues to backfill from the AC turnstile. There is no predicting who comes stays lays or prays. We just gotta make sure our toes are still tappin'If it gets that bad then it will likely be worse. I could see the conference dissolve to the point where all that is left is Cuse, Wake and BC. As much as I hate the ACC, and I really do detest them (especially Puke...yes, I have issues) I will give tobacco road credit in that the true tobacco roadies get UConn's value and likely wouldn't mind having us in the conference. The problem always seemed to be with the shidiot members not living on tobacco road who think we can't/won't bring value. Them giving us even half-share would help us immensely, but it won't happen, and for that reason, I hope the ACC rots in perpetuity...I put the strongest malocchio on them I can muster.UConn is a fantastic state flagship and I think that is one big advantage that privates like cuse and bcu don't have. If tobacco road still doesn't get it, who knows.
K wasn't saying it'd only be for football.Coach K keeps beating that drum... Coach K is intrigued by a proposed Big East and ACC merger to create a superconference
""It could also give UConn an opportunity," he said. "They're playing football -- and they'd love to be in a conference where every school plays football. It would be an amazing league with a huge footprint stretching into the Midwest.""
I bit odd to say all schools merge and then say only schools that play football.
