Being at a beach is a state of mind...although I spent decades near the prettiest beaches in the US (from Pensacola to Panama City), I find some NC mountain beaches to be relaxing and very pretty. Certainly better than the Jersey Shore... Huh ? Why do folks in New Jersey go to "the shore" and folks in Florida go to the beach ?

70 schools in D1 including Eastern Kentucky, Missouri St, Tennessee Tech, and Nebraska!

Crazy that the B12 sponsors the sport but the SEC doesnt.
The B1G could also -- they have 5 -- would just need 1 affiliate.

Jersey Shore is actually a proper name for the coastal region in New Jersey.

They’re not going to the shore, they’re going to the Shore - once they get there, they go the beach.

CT calls it the shore too. DE and MD too.

It may be because it’s a distinct region — you switch over to more touristy towns with different style houses and milder weather.

Speaking as a full blooded Italian who grew up on the Connecticut SHORE, guidos are certainly not a monopoly held by Jersey 😉...and as for Snooki 🥴🤢🤮

My Uncle was a Pesavento...from Illinois and married my dad's sister (from Wisconsin)...he ran his dad's Italian restaurant in Chicago before inheriting...Pesavento's, on S. Front Street.
