Also, I sort of thought guppy was more for an adult and the "ie" means more "cute little"... hence Guppie. sort of like in Spanish, adding an "ito" at the end of something makes it mean "cute little". I think LOL....

Actually, aside from the humor in this, it’s a pretty brilliant marketing move. UConn has been hawking player t-shirts for years with the players getting a cut of the profit as part of their NIL deal. By adding a colorful nickname, it’s certain to boost sales, and I do think there might be something to the whole “trademark” thing. You can’t trademark a common word like “guppy.” But you can absolutely trademark something that’s made up like, “Lil Guppie.”

Hoping Kelis makes $1 million off Lil Guppie. By the way, “guppies” is the plural of guppy.
