Nebraska fired 2 HC after going 8-4, Tom Osborne gave that fan base unrealistic expectations.

Georgia Southern was 3-9 last year. They hire Clay Helton and in his second game he wins at Nebraska.

Why does it seem like UConn always needs a 10 year plan to turn it around and other teams can do it in one year?

Sigh.
Because of our recruiting footprint. Notice where all these teams that turn it around quickly come from.

Well...maybe. Georgia Southern is in Statesboro. While Georgia is a fertile recruiting ground.... Statesboro is really in the sticks.

BYU takes down Baylor in an entertaining game. Three missed FGs between the end of the 4th and OT.

Utah State got rolled by Weber State. Looks like they suck this year. So much for the hope of doing well against a good team.

Lesson to all coaches on the hot seat: NEVER agree to reduce your buyout. You are better off just getting fired when the school asks for the reduction.

lesson to all Athletic Directors: unless someone is trying to hire your coach, don’t feel pressured to increase the buyout or extend that contract,

My wife, then fiancé, went to a Waffle House in Statesboro in 99. Interesting and unforgettable experience.

Apparently Frost’s buyout doesn’t drop to $7.5 million until October 1. Alberts felt he couldn’t wait three weeks to save the school $7.5 million. So Alberts kept a coach for another year that had exactly the same problems he has displayed this season, burns this season, but decides he has to fire Frost when the next two games are Oklahoma, who is going to crush Nebraska anyway, and Indiana on 10/1, who Frost would have had a chance to beat, when the cost of firing Frost yesterday was an incremental $7.5 million vs. firing him after Indiana.

If I was Nebraska’s President, I would tell Alberts that the football team better beat Oklahoma and Indiana or he is fired too for this stupid stunt.

No way he fired Frost without booster and school support. Zero chance. $7.5M is like one home game for Nebraska and they plenty of revenue streams.
