In the last non-conference games for the SoCon..... and also the last time this season you will hear/see schools you never knew existed.

UNC-G defeated the Blue Bears of Livingstone College (Division II) 94-39

Furman dominated their cross town foes Bob Jones University 106-21

And lastly, throw out the record books when Western Carolina faces off against South Carolina Central Christian College..... My Catamounts were victorious over the Lady Gladiators 96-12.

Thankfully, SoCon action begins on Thursday.

One thing’s for sure, UCONN was a much better team while Paige was out than USC is without Juju.
USC gave UConn their closest game in the Tourney last year...without Juju. They are an entirely different team this year with only 1 returning starter. I'm certain UConn returned a much stronger nucleus during the season Bueckers missed than USC did.

I'm pretty jazzed about today's lineup so I'm making some predictions about the big games today:

Ole Miss at Texas: Texas wins 75-50
Texas beats Ole Miss pretty handily -- potential for a blowout. I think Ole Miss will limit Texas's offense but struggle putting points on the board.

Baylor at Iowa State: Iowa State wins 85-73.
This is a close game at halftime and then Audi Crooks goes to work putting this game away in the third. Baylor makes a late game surge but it's a little too late. Crooks has another stat-stuffing game.

LSU @ Vanderbilt: LSU wins 93-71
LSU struggles in the first quarter but finds their groove by halftime and slowly pulls away. LSU's guards are too much for Vandy to handle. Blakes scores 30+ points but the rest of Vandy struggles to consistently score.

Notre Dame @ Duke: Duke wins 63-55
Notre Dame gets out to a halftime lead but Duke wins the second half. Fourier has a monster game on the glass. Hidalgo frustrates the Duke guards defensively but also struggles to score efficiently.

After all of the ranked teams losing I am glad Cyclones play at home today. This is only the second Quad 1 game they have played this season so they are unaccustomed to playing anyone decent other than Iowa. However, like the Iowa game, the Baylor game is in Ames. Schedule for league play is only three currently ranked teams and if Baylor loses today they won't be ranked tomorrow.

It's too bad Duke and NC State took their lumps in OOC, because both are quickly rising to the top now that conference play has started.

What about UVa? All over Florida St. early, if it holds they will improve to 4-0. Contender or pretender? The wins are against BC, SMU and Clemson so I probably answered my own question. They can thank the schedule makers for giving them as easy slate to begin with.

ND on a two game losing streak after a blowout win against a cupcake. Will the losses against these unranked conference foes drop the Golden Domers out of the AP Top 25?
My vote would be yes but then again,

Fournier finally seems to have recovered her mojo for Duke. Also Delaney Thomas with a double double. They led ND almost from start to finish.

Okay, can we just concede the NEC to Fairleigh Dickinson now and spare the pain of watching this conference for a couple more months? FDU destroyed St. Francis 73-28.

But hey, previously winless Mercyhurst took Le Moyne to the woodshed 89-72 and improved to 1-12.

Stanford and UNC tied with just under 30 seconds left in the game
I really hope Toomey decides to use her redshirt year at UConn in 2 years

Oh no! Pitt and BC clash today in what will surely be one of the worst games involving two P4 teams all season long. The B1G will offer us several stinkers as well.

OT games are so boring. The fouling and the timeouts. Make it stop. On the plus side, I think Stanford may have a case for a ranking.

Duke beats ND and UNC loses, does the bag come off @triaddukefan s head?

Also hoo boy on the ACC this year
I'd like to trot out the ol' Pac-12 homerism "there are no nights off in the Pac-12," but with Pitt and BC in a slap fest for dead last in the ACC, I'm not sure even I can say that with a straight face. But at least the top of the conference is keeping things interesting?

Santa Clara trying to bounce back from the loss to LMU leading the Zags 19-14. After a pathetic defensive effort against the Lions the Broncos are working their D muscles through 1 quarter.

Edit: After giving up 92 to LMU on Friday the Broncos hold Gonzaga to 34 in the first half.

After shooting 9-11 against LMU with a perfect 6-6 first half Sophie Glancy is again perfect in the first half 5-5 from the field with 14 points.

Stanford’s a bit all over the place this year with a loss to 6-7 FGCU, a close win over 2-14 Washington State, and a meltdown 28-point loss to NC State.

But ranked wins over Washington (nice value there after Michigan’s loss) and North Carolina (maybe overranked, but also about as far of a road game as possible).

I’d be surprised if Kate Paye doesn’t turn out to be a good coach with good results over time after so many years under Tara.
