Week 5 preview (Dec. 6-12)

Arkansas thumps UALR 73-39 — after barely beating a pretty decent Jackson St team 66-62 earlier in the week. No real consistency yet for the Hogs, but they are without their top two post players (top 3 if you count Dauda, who is not yet cleared — and may still redshirt).

Along with Hillman and Czinano, there's just something about those Big 10 post players. They don't excite WNBA scouts, but for college they are extremely productive and efficient. Gustafson was the blueprint of course.
Hugo props to the players obviously, but also a shout out to the coaches develop them and figure out how to use them within the offense. And it's also about teaching the guards how and when to get them the ball so they can be in a position to score. They are extremely effective in college but the drawback is they may not develop the necessary versatility to make it at the next level -- particularly a face-up game and/or an outside shot.

I think Holmes might be different — she’s a rim protector and has developed a three-point shot. She might actually make herself into a marketable stretch-4.
The Zags had a nice performance in a tournament in Hawaii. It seems they didn't bring their offense back to the mainland with them. That's gotta be a bit concerning. 54 against Wyoming, 49 against Washington St. and a slow start today. Certainly some of that is the style of the teams they are playing.

This game has been an error fest, turnovers and missed shots.
