Week 5 - Dec 1 to 7

UNLV got hammered by Rice. I've been really impressed by the job La Rocque has done there, but they appear to be down quite a bit this year. Might still run the Mountain West, but Colorado St. and Boise St. have done fairly well in OOC.

Eastern Washington over South Dakota is a bit of a surprise. This is the second half of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge going on today.

Stailee Heard woke up. 26 and counting against Mississippi Valley St. Okie St. up 120-42...about halfway thru Q4. Why play games like this?

edit--combined margin in Q2 and Q3 was 81-22

edit #2--Heard is probably done for the day; she scored her 26 in 27 minutes

edit #3--133-46 final; disgusting; I'm guessing school record for points scored for OSU?

Iowa 31-8 midway thru q2 vs Rutgers

Knights need a coaching change
Coquese is a puzzle. Since winning 3 Big Ten championships with the great Maggie Lucas, she has 7 11th place or worse BIG finishes in 8 years. Did she forget how to coach?

Rutgers was 7-2 coming into the game, so how bad are many of the mid majors out there? They beat several teams by 20-30 points. Also beat Rhode Island who I think is pretty solid.

Stomach virus going around NC State team. 3 players had IVs this past week. Rebounding machine Khamil Pierre is one of them; Coach Moore says she will play some today, if she can, but just started being able to eat solid food yesterday. Maddie Cox taking her place in the starting lineup.

Sounds like Qadence Samuels will be out today, too. We're already down Jernigan and it seems like Lorena Awou is in the process of leaving NC State; she is not shooting warmups with the team.

Something must be going around in general. Tessa Johnson was also out sick and Okot sat for the second half of our game for unknown reasons, though it was suspected that she is still recovering from being sick.

Creighton freshmen are really starting to show signs of life. Zediker with 21 first half points. Gessert with 8 after scoring 20+ earlier in the week. Creighton looks like they will be good by the end of the year.

Fairfield is bouncing back after a disappointing loss, thumping Richmond who is also a solid mid major I think.

Tied at 15 at the end of the first at GCU. The Lopes, 1-7 seeking their second win against St Marys. This brings to mind the last visit to Global Financial Arena by St Marys - 11-6-23. Trailing by 16 entering the 4th quarter the then Molly Miller squad outscored the Gaels 24-5 for a miracle win!

2 years later, Molly Miller has led ASU to a 10-0 start and.. .well we are still wondering if Winston Gandy is ready for prime time

Georgetown with a buzzer beater to defeat wake forest; after almost giving the game away. They can breathe a sigh of relief.

Xavier just beat Cincinnati. They beat a team from the big 12. That sounds like a miracle considering where they were a couple of years ago.

I've seen a lot of questioning of Lauren Betts this year. Maybe she's been playing possum. 13 pts/11 reb/3 blocks at halftime and UCLA is killing Oregon.
