Villanova hanging tougher vs Maryland than the Huskies did :(
oh damn. You reminded me to look up the score of that game after I looked at Maryland's schedule yesterday. Although Nova lost 38-20, I do think that is a little window dressing even though it was better than UConn's result against Maryland. Nova was down 24-0 by the 2nd qtr and then down 38-13 in the 4th qtr until Nova scored a late TD which probably matters more to bettors.

3 yrs ago I'm sure he would have. After a couple years killing it at JMU, he’ll be on to a P4 (or P2 job like Cignetti)
That's why when I looked at the live score of the JMU-North Carolina game I got an uneasy feeling like missing out on a stock I could have purchased at a low price. Although I don't get into too many debates on the BoneYard, I did push back on people that stated UConn's lack of money is why football is so bad, which I think is BS. They should never have been historically bad like they have been for some of the years between 2012-2023 (i.e. 2017, 2018, etc.) Sure, UConn does not have a conference that the G5 schools do, but they have more money and brand recognition. There are schools doing far more with much less money and definitely less brand recognition.

Serious question. Is there really that much of a difference between Ohio St.'s roster in 2024 than the roster in 2014 before NIL? And, is there a difference in the coaching staff? OSU's coaching staff in 2014 had Urban Meyer, Tom Herman as OC, and Luke Fickell as DC. And, if you think money creates winning, how come the Yankees have only won 1 World Series in the past 20 years? You have to spend money smartly and develop your own players which is not easy to do.
Money won't guarantee championships but it definitely helps put you in the playoffs. But yes, Ohio State and a few others who have dominated will continue to dominate.

It would be great if Central could upgrade to something like the MAC
Change the name to Central Connecticut University and it fits right in. With University of Connecticut to the Big Ten, of course.

There is a $40 million/year of payroll difference. Do I really need to explain why that is a huge deal?
I understand the payroll difference, but the talent between the 2 rosters is similar. And, they had the #3 recruiting class in 2014 and the #5 recruiting class in 2024. The money is only keeping them in their position in college football.

And he makes only $550k — about what our coordinators make. Their staff makes far less. So it’s not all about money.
Been saying something along this line forever. I always thought we should just hire the entire staff of South Dakota State University. I still that would have worked.

And yet we all know that's not how it works

Why would BIG want UConn’s football. ACC is a better fit. ACC football is bad for P4

Still closer game than UConn

Why? They are a mediocre/bad FCS team. Why would FBS be a good investment for a struggling university?

UConn has been a mediocre team at times too (but look what is happening now) I say give them a chance.

Penn St has 1st and goal with 1:25 left up 49-0.

Do they take a knee? Of course not.

Stay classy James Franklin.

Central is a middle of the pack NEC team...not a CAA team. You keep saying things like this but you clearly don't understand any thing about the university.
UConn was a lousy team for a long time, now they are winning games

Yep, you are 100% right.

CCSU simply needs to increase its total athletics budget from about $17M to $22M and aspire to be a mid-level America East/CAA Football program instead of a lowly NEC member.
