Week 3: Other Games

Baylor Scheierman has taken three ~28 foot shots with no hesitation in the first half so far. He only made 1 of them, but the other 2 looked good. 3-5 on threes so far

Kalkbrenner landed on someone's foot and rolled his ankle badly. Had to leave the game, hope he's okay and can come back soon

Oh great, Kalkbrenner is hurt and Creighton had 15 turnovers in the first half. Somehow they're tied.

Kalkbrenner came back. Seems fine.

Update - Holy crap I jinxed him. Down again.

.-.
Creighton controlled the turnovers in the second half and ran away with it. Their defense is SUFFOCATING. Beat #21 Texas Tech by 11

Nembhard and Alexander played very smart and under control. Kaluma still plays very clunky, but it works - 18 points on 6-11 shooting. Scheierman takes some really stupid shots, but makes enough of them to force you to respect it. Kalkbrenner completely dominates the paint, and apparently has ankles made of steel. Rolled it twice really badly and played through it.

Their bench only scored 4 points. 2 were halfway through the 1st half and 2 were a garbage time dunk. And they still beat a ranked team by double digits.

This team is really good.

They probably have the best starting 5 in the country, going to have to develop the bench if they want to win it all. Our games against them are going to be serious battles.

I don't think anybody can compete with their starting 5. The scouting report will likely be 1 page that says "GET STARTERS IN FOUL TROUBLE"

0-3 Louisville is (kind of?) hanging around with #9 Arkansas, which is equally confusing as it is funny

Down 8 at half

Back to the Louisville we've come to love.

17-0 run for Arkansas and it's pretty much just a dunk contest at this point. Arkansas up 27 with 4 minutes to go. Anthony Black with 26

was louisville expected to be this bad this year? crazy that el ellis is balling out so hard and they are this awful.

Maybe not this bad. They were picked 12th in the ACC. Pitt and BC were 13th and 14th I would guess. ACC has some terrible teams. Big East is down but I think only Georgetown is that level of horrible.

Board favorite El Ellis 4-16.

Excited for more and more hoops as the week progresses!
He's been good in general this year, both from 3 and from 2. Not great tonight, though. Turnovers from trying to make too much happen since no other guards is not really his fault

Halftime in Brooklyn: Syracuse 34 - 29 Richmond

Joe Girard has 21, it's a one man army right now

.-.
Richmond had their chances, but they fall to Joe Girard and Syracuse in OT 74-71. 18 turnovers for the Spiders, including several shot clock violations in the second half and OT. I counted 5 missed shots on their last possession

Girard with 31 points, shot 50% from the field. Very Klay Thompson-esque form.

I don’t see Klay when I see Girard. I see 41 year old dude at Wednesday night JCC pickup games. Let. It. Rain.

San Diego State has the look of a good team. Game has been choppy at times, but SDSU is long and can shoot.
