Week 2 Big Games:

Villanova survives a comeback attempt from Belmont, 83-80.

Siegrist had 29 points and 5 steals. Lucy Olsen added 20 and 4 assists.
For Belmont, USF transfer Sydni Harvey led with 24 points.

Belmont has played one of the toughest OOC schedules in the country so far. Lost a very close game to Louisville, lost a fairly compettie game to Iowa, mysteriously lost to Middle Tennessee.

Anyone know what happened in the Georgia-VCU game? Just saw on Twitter, several Georgia players were ejected.

Louisville rolled today against Longwood with no Van Lith. No idea why she missed the game.

"Van Lith missed the game while she is nursing a minor injury but Walz said he expects her to return to the lineup on Wednesday night when the Cardinals host Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge."

Can I do a little happy dance that my UMass Minutewomen came back from down 10 to beat Drake by 17 (and outscored Drake 17-0 in overtime?) My UMass women received 5 votes in coaches' poll last week, and while I don't expect them to get ranked, Drake is a quality win for them.

Sounded like Piath didn't play as she is returning from an injury? She was dressed but didn't enter.

So happy. happy happy happy!

Forgot to mention that the DePaul win over MD also makes me happy.

BIG wins for both my secondary teams! (UMass and DePaul!)

Colorado (#41 Massey) vs TN (#49 Massey) Hmmmm.

With all the talks lately of mid majors. I would continue to watch closely at FGCU despite losing Bell from last years squad. Always a difficult out for any team

Stanford only up 41-37 over FGCU at half. Haley Jones with a monster half. No one else is standing out

That 5 out dribble drive is hard to guard due to them all being three point threats

Pretty pleased with the Ducks … very competitive. A lot more fun to watch than the last two years.

Never expected more than a split in this field. I.e…beat UNC… then face the veteran ISU… ouch. Ducks not ready for that yet.
Hopefully play MSU better and for 4 quarters.

On a negative note I’m not sure what game Endiya Rogers was playing in. 8 TO’s and a lot of them just out of control madness.
Hodgson got hot from 3 and Oregon didn’t respond.

(thought I posted this after the game Thursday but didnt go through, I guess. Old news now)

.-.
Looks like Stanford ran away in the 2nd half. 93-69 final.

I'm still not sure what to make of Washington, but they're avoiding bad losses anyway. Also not struggling to break the 50 point barrier like they did last season. The starters haven't been scoring much the last 2 games, luckily the bench players have been bailing them out.

Excited to watch Oregon State vs Iowa. Big fan of Talia. Iowa also is a fun watch

Colorado (#41 Massey) vs TN (#49 Massey) Hmmmm.
Massey ratings in the first several games of the season should be completely disregarded as they are largely a holdover from the previous season. Colorado was an NCAA tournament last year (lost to Creighton in first round) but they lost multiple key players and are not nearly the same team this year.

.-.

Seems like some of these holiday tournaments have gotten a bit spicy ... and I'm here for it. :D UGA-VCU and apparently Memphis-St Johns.

Park-Lane definitely one my favorites to watch.

Does anyone know why Coach Abe and the entire Georgia team, except a couple of assistants, left the court without shaking hands or even acknowledging their opponents?

Georgia actually won the tournament on point differential, but Coach Abe didn't hang around to pick up the trophy.

My Ladyjacks may be having a bit of a down year by their lofty standards. But that doesn't mean they can't lay the wood on some overprivileged team from one of those "Poser-5" conferences that people are always fawning over.

That's crazy.

Jan 2 and Feb 26. Home and Away vs South Carolina...

I might have to tune in :D

Wait for real? I didn't hear about that but disappointing if true. That isn't very classy.

That tower can't be in Nagochedes (or however you spell it)

Looks like another Baylor vs Michigan matchup this season. This time for the Gulf Coast Showcase Championship. I think it's the 3rd straight season they've matched up. Both teams had real solid wins today

Ahem, it's spelled Nacogdoches and pronounced NACK-uh-DOH-chis

And they're called the purple victory lights atop the Steen Towers for a reason.

(Not that tall really, maybe about 10 or so floors.)

Ha. ok. From the first twitter vid it looked like it was some building out by the Galleria in Houston.

NC State does the same thing when they win a game... they light up one of the towers on campus

South Carolina lights up the Capstone for significant wins.
