Week 16 - Feb 16 to 22

Allow me to have some schaudenfreude for all the Oregon St traitors.
For most of them, it hasn't really worked out very well. I do feel bad for Paurova who has been injured and has yet to play a single second since she left.

Stanford lost by 15 at Miami. I do like Stanford, I'm not trying to pick on them, but I can't for the life of me figure out how they are on the bubble. Nebraska too. Is this the softest, weakest bubble ever?

Have been prepping a long post on the arch of the Stanford season, which I hope to finish and post this weekend. The TL;DR is we had both the resume and the look of a tourney team until about 3 weeks ago, and it takes a little while for the effects of our stinkery to fully inform the bracketology.

Brooklyn Meyer dropped 44 for SDSU tonight. The Jacks needed it, too; they squeaked by 0.500 Oral Roberts by two. South Dakota and North Dakota State were both in close games against lesser opponents, too.

This probably TNs worst loss. At home against a league bottom feeder.

They followed the recent model: start poorly, shoot badly.

TN: 40%/34%

A&M: 56%/58%

...and now only ranked teams to finish out.
I was a little surprised they were still in the top 25 in this week’s polls. Let’s hope Beers gets at least six or seven shots this weekend and Oklahoma wins convincingly.

.-.
Add Nebraska and Ole Miss to the list of teams who forgot to play 4 quarters instead of 3 tonight.

Oklahoma held on to beat Georgia. Beers with 5 FGA. They have completely wasted her talents her senior year.
She played 16 min because she was in foul trouble. All SEC schools do is flop their post and officials call it everytime. Thanks for you input even though you didn't watch the game.

LSU closes 19-1 to come back against Ole Miss

Ole Miss missed approximately 742 shots and 174 free throws in the 4th quarter

And man if you miss a shot against LSU, you need to get back on D -- when they can run, they are very very fast and effective
I watched that game and am embarrassed for the Ole Miss players and would immediately discharge the Ole Miss coaching staff. If any of the AP pollsters gives Ole Miss a vote after that performance they should forfeit future voting rights. As I said in another thread Ole Miss lived up to their name.

The coaching staff can't be faulted for the players missing 54 straight free throws in the 4th quarter.

Funny thing, Pac 12 teams used to do the same thing. She was always battling foul trouble at Oregon St. as well. She still managed to be productive. This wasn't a one off. I look at their box scores fairly regularly, and it's not unusual for her to have the least number of FGA among the starters, despite being by far the most efficient.

No, but they can be faulted for not calling a time out to regroup the team while LSU reeled off 13 straight points and took a 3 point lead. Also the superb coaching staff might have got the offense to move a little bit instead of standing still for the first 28 seconds of the shot clock of each of their wasted possessions.

You steered us wrong against upper carolina

I steered myself wrong as well 😢

So...Carolina came back to win in OT. Crickets in here. I'm sure someone in the Piedmont Triangle area is stewing about that right now, but at least another game is going well for that poster.

Naw. The way the standings are, there is a good chance that they will finish as the #3 seed in the ACC tournament. Let them fight it out with Louisville in the semis.

VaTech leads UNC in the 3rd

The Heels have gotta be one of the most disappointing teams of the year.

I think you meant Stanford .... boy was I wrong about them. I thought they would finish 4th in the conference.

MissSt with a baaaad loss to Florida. Bulldogettes were already on the bubble ...

Very bad loss. Cost me a Texas Roadhouse Sunday afternoon meal. 😡

Ole Miss has had this problem throughout the season when you look at their head scratching losses. This isn't surprising to me.

Ole Miss really isn’t a good shooting team. 3 point %, they are second from bottom in the conference. Field goal %, they are 12th. And that has been their legacy with coach Yo. They often don’t put together a full game. They tend to have long droughts. But they play defense usually and force other teams to play their style. Probably strong contenders to make a sweet 16/elite 8 run again.

That's one of the more stunning collapses I've ever seen. They had a 13 point lead, not exactly comfortable but they were hitting 46 per cent from the field in the first three quarters. Then they not only went 0 for 16 in the fourth quarter, they got to the line and missed free throw after free throw after free-throw. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes.

The free throw issue happened towards the end of the fourth. The only points they scored in the 4th came from the free throw line.

Had to find a replay on YouTube to rewatch the fourth quarter. Ole Miss looked gassed based on how their shots were falling. Could the fact that they had to play with a day's rest after their game against Tennessee on Tuesday be part of it? I'd prefer not to think so, as this is the type of schedule they'll be dealing with during the SEC tournament and March Madness.
