Week 13 - Jan 27 to Feb 2

Aside from being a bit shorthanded inside, there is no reason for LSU’s defense to be this bad. Their athleticism is off the charts and Mulkey was known as an excellent defensive coach at Baylor.

Oklahoma lives and dies by their O, always has.

Oklahoma making a run.

Were they better last year? Or is the SEC just that much tougher than the Big 12? If they lose, they'll drop to 4-4 in conference. They went 15-3 last season.

Last year they won the Big 12 but had most dominos fall correctly for them: they played Texas right after Harmon went out with the ACL, Kansas State right after Lee went out, and were the beneficiary of a controversial ending vs. Texas to close the regular season. They also were awful in non-conference. This year with Beers, I think they're better.

Big 12 overall was weaker and SEC came in and stole their top teams, adding to an already strong conference. OU's only bad loss so far is Mississippi State, with the other 3 losses being to Texas/South Carolina/LSU. The back half of their SEC schedule is much more favorable, but defensively this is their third game giving up 100+ points which is a big cause for concern. I think they should win all but 1 or 2 the rest of the way, but we'll see what happens.

I don't think any of the freshmen this year are getting the kind of hype that Juju and Hidalgo did last year, but there are a bunch of them that are making a big impact.

There isn't enough talk about how good these freshmen are--this class could rival last year's. Sarah Strong, Joyce Edwards, Mikayla Blakes, Olivia Olson, Jaloni Cambridge, Syla Swords and many others are having monster freshman seasons and aren't getting spoken about enough. Even today, for Florida their freshman Liv McGill put up 20 points, 4 assists and 3 steals against ranked Vanderbilt but that wont garner any attention after Blakes exploded for 53.

Look at their players. They only wanna jack up shots and not put in effort on defense. Been evident for a while now

53 points on 67% shooting is INSANE! I'll need to watch that game.

Britt Prince and Delaney Gibb are two more I would mention.

Arkansas won tonight! Handily too, 72-51 over Texas A&M. And I thought the Aggies had been gaining a bit of momentum lately.

State gave up 83 points to Wake Forest tonight. I know it's a throw out the record book game, but thats the most points Wake has scored all season. The Pack better tighten up their defense or else.

They lost their leading scorer the other day. Out for the season.

Watching some Big Sky action, a rock fight between Montana St. and Sacramento St. Sac. St. has a freshman from Australia named Amoore. Younger sister of Georgia. Looks a lot like her too.

Blakes' performance is under the fold on ESPN WBB front page under approximately 2 million highlight clips of LSU-OU and the top 25 scoreboard. Seems awfully downplayed for the magnitude of the record but obviously I'm biased.

Horns avoid disaster, but only beat hapless Missouri by 9 in Austin. I'm telling ya, something's not quite right with Texas.

Harmon is facilitating but her offense has not been crisp

North Carolina gets a decent road win at Cal 65-52. Heels continue to be a team where you never know what to expect from them.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area, Stanford about to get their third ever ACC win against Pitt.

I think the story this year for Texas A&M has been injuries. They just got back two players from injury only to have Coulibaly be injured and out for the rest of the season.

Lots of LSU concern here.

Normally their defense is good: 62 points per game.

Strange game, tons of fouls, techs, ejections, LSU choked away a 24 PT lead...but behind Makayla Williams 38 points w7 threes..... they still WON.

Oklahoma #4 in SEC, and recently had been clubhouse leader for the #8 spot. (meanwhile Ohio St and Duke)

LSU never looks good, but they beat and hang with the good teams. Still will be a #2 seed and most likely like usual still there in round of 8.

That's been the theme of this years LSU team, Play up and down to competition. Its a very good team but also vulnerable since they dont maintain consistency in how they play. They will have spurts (1-2 quarters of brilliant ball) but then just not show up for the other 1-2 quarters. PG play is erratic from SDW and LSU doesn't have a real center inside to compliment Morrow. Sa'Myah is a 4, not a 5, and she is coming off an ACL injury (now has had both ACL's repairs). Flaujae is good but she is a turnover machine and her decision making has been very poor overall this year. I feel she hasn't been as good as what she was at the end of last season in my opinion. Obviously a gifted offensive player but she is so reckless with the ball and it hurts LSU.

This group has to be the first Mulkey coached team that I can remember who legit does not want to play defense very often. Defense is all about effort and grit, this group just seems to want to score and dont have the same effort and intensity on the other side of the ball.

Agree with all. Despite our griping, they will enter ncaa tourney at 30-4, will be a #2 seed, and will show up in elite 8.

Morrow will be 1st team AA. FJ 3rd team. Williams hon men.

In elite 8 pending matchups, anything can happen. Mulkey's first and worse LSU team even avoided Goliath and won an unexpected natty. Many complained, but trophy has not been taken away yet.

Not sure if anything's necessarily wrong, but I don't think we're playing well these last 3 games.

On MLK night, Texas routed Maryland in New Jersey; best game played all season. Three nights later Horns went down to the wire beating Tennessee at home. Three days later they tussled with Ole Miss in Oxford before squeaking out a win; starting PF Aaliyah Moore missed the game with tendinitis in her knee. So, that was 3 games in 7 days.

Last night's home game against Mizzou was supposed to be a bit of a "breather" as Mizzou was 1-6 in SEC play; Texas had Moore and backup PF Justice Carlton out with the flu. And, it was announced that Michigan transfer, Laila Phelia who had not played since early December due to a retina issue with her eye will redshirt this season. So, lots of players out last night. Still, I wasn't happy how the team played on offense and especially on defense.

I think it all comes down to matchups. Ole Miss and Mizzou are known to have really physical teams and that probably help them counter Texas's physicality. Mizzou is always a tough out for South Carolina, too, no matter how bad their record is.
