Week 1 games (Nov. 25-29)

Coach Rueck can't be very happy with the lack of defense against a scrappy Montana State team. If Montana St. had any height at all it would be an interesting match up. Well, that is what games like this are for this early. 73-52 OSU up at this point

2nd half was 56-26. Just a bad 1st half.

Prince on jumper.

Oregonlive comments:

In her first college game after two-plus years of injury and sitting out after transferring from Texas, Prince started and had 17 points and six rebounds.

Graves said he thought Prince, a 6-foot-7 redshirt-sophomore, was actually passive and looking to be a playmaker for others more than a “beast” inside.

Missouri State on an 18-2 run to take the lead in 3Q over Maryland, after trailing by as much as 16 in the 2nd quarter. The Bears of Springfield are a tough and experienced squad.

Maryland just fell apart at the start of the 3rd quarter. No offense and no defense plus 5 turnovers.

Maryland had 12 turnovers in the 3rd quarter. Tons of traveling calls. Missouri State 55-52.

DePaul making it really close. A&M up 2 w/ 4 seconds left.

I know its early in the season but we are trash offensively. The offensive scheme is stale. Minimal movement, jacking up random shots.

Maryland is going to go down to Missouri State.

78-68 with less than a minute to go.

Didn't see it noted elsewhere, Green Bay beat Drake 69-61 in a nice matchup of mid major programs.

Also Northern Iowa beat Creighton 55-52, Blue Jays dropped to 0-2 to start the season.

I agree Prince looked really good, but I can't be the only person who was impressed w/ Giomi can I?

Nope; me too. And among lots of other pluses, I'm also really pleased with how Nyara Sabally looked after two years out with ACLA tears in the same leg. She can really move, brace and all, and seems to me a prototypical power forward, also a first in many ways for Oregon. Prince at the high post and Sabally inside could be lethal.

WVU up 57-37 over LSU with 6 minutes left
Kysre Gondrezick leading WV with 22 points so far (mid-4th quarter). It was recently reported that Kysre worked very hard in the offseason on both her game and her conditioning, losing 48 (!) pounds in the process.

I'm really happy for Missouri State. They've been making noise since their Sweet 16 run two years ago, and today they've rewarded themselves with a takedown of a big name program in Maryland.

Even more remarkable is how they bounced back from a large first half deficit. They came out of the lockerroom at halftime throwing punches, sending Maryland reeling, and the Terps just couldn't summon a response.

How. good is UCF? We play them next. LSU could legit open the year 0-3. We honestly look like we will finish between 11-14 in the conference at this point.

Scheduling note... Tomorrow's Duke game vs the mighty Catamounts of Western Carolina has been moved to Noon and will be shown on the ACC Network (as opposed to web only) Originally the Florida-FSU matchup was in that time slot... but that game has been postponed.

Well, they beat Virginia pretty darn badly :D

I'd say they're "okay" in the sense that they've been an NCAA bubble team the past two years. They've been much better at home than on the road: In fact, UConn is the only team to have beaten them on their home court in the past two entire seasons. Last year they went 14-1 at home but only 5-6 in true road games, so that much bodes pretty well for LSU.

But this promises to be a very defense-dominant type of game. I will say, UCF's point guard, the Syracuse transfer Alisha Lewis, was very impressive against Virginia.

Take solace in the fact that no one can be worse than Virginia. UCF beat them 60-34 (after falling behind 13-1).

Maybe Brenda's half time speech was uninspiring this time.
