To me, it's the defence that stood out as the main factor to the game. Making South Carolina struggle to establish any sense of an offensive scheme for most the game is not an easy task. The offensive output of Beuckers, Fudd and Strong was impressive but their efforts on both ends impressed me more.

Under the heading of ridiculous nitpicking:

Raven played the entire game (from the opening tip) with her jersey not tucked in. I thought there was a rule about this and the refs are supposed to enforce it. Has that changed recently? Or am I simply mistaken?

Alexa started her women's basketball career as the Husky beat writer and she has quite a story here:

"This last year, Bueckers' fifth in the program, was different. With the help of a sports psychologist and Auriemma's continued guidance, she learned how to stay where her feet are. To not be so outcome-oriented. How to be more at peace with herself, to run her own race, and to not let the pressure amid ever-heightening expectations become a burden

And in the leadup to the title game, well before she was crowned a champion, Bueckers said that she still wouldn't change a thing about her journey with her teammates - "just because of how it shaped us and how it's shaped our mentality, how it shaped our faith and belief in everything that happens for a reason."

This is what South Carolina ran into

I turned on the pre-game at 2:45, refreshed my drink (iced tea) and settled in for the game. At 2:55 the lights flickered and power went off. I was like really, power going off now? It's a fine spring day in Florida. I didn't lose power during hurricane Milton and I lose it on a clear day five minutes before the biggest game of the year starts. I ended up missing the first quarter and watching the remainder at a sports bar. With beer as a beverage.

Words can’t express how I’m happy for this wonderful group of women, the coaching staff and everyone who has a part in their success. What a fantastic tournament. Now, time to relax and watch my recording multiple times. Enjoy your night everyone!!
An even dozen. Just wow!

Great win and blew right thru the tourney and the FF with Paige being the 3rd leading scorer on the team
An argument could be made for all 3 of them. Paige led them to the Final 4 and her numbers were great throughout the tournament.
Yes but the MOP was for the final four which Paige didn't put up numbers like Azzi and Sara..I would have picked Sara for the FF with not just points but rebounds and terrific defense

Wasn’t that long ago there were people saying that the game had passed Geno by. Today showed that is not the case. Happy for Geno, happy for UConn and really happy for Paige.
Great day to be a UConn fan.
I'll say it wasn't that long ago! Two months to the day, to be exact, when we lost to Tennessee.

I wonder if they're still saying that now. I might have to take a peek just to quench my curiosity...

This...without ANY doubt, was my favorite one out of the 12. I had my doubts early in the season, but when Coach said "we're going to have a great tournament team" it made me feel good about our chances. Coach just knows his team.

Thank you Paige, Kaitlyn and Aubrey - you are National Champions. Thank you Coach Auriemma.

The drought is over!
