US looked like a dead team walking against Costa Rica, but I thought the difference maker to me was Navas. He made a few saves to keep the US scoreless and I don't think the US believed they could score on him. The second Costa Rican goal wasn't Howard's fault, but I don't think he would've kept the US scoreless if he and Navas switched sides, and I think Navas saves the first goal.

I think the US can be in trouble against Honduras. Hot, humid and hostile environment isn't easy for a team that looked disinterested a few days prior.

I can't believe playing CR in NY is seen as a mistake. What a dumb excuse. They got curbstomped and that happens in Columbus or Seattle the way they were thrashed down the middle of the field.

Put someone in net capable of hitting the deck quick enough to stop a tight-angled falling down goal. Tim Melia? Hamid?

Would love to cater to our best players' natural positions and tendencies. Let Wood go lone wolf up top and Pulisic at the 10 spot.

And bring some youngsters to travel and experience the setting. Olosunde, Sargent, etc instead of Dax and Wondo

Howard is just SUM's legacy brand name.

Can't really change GK's at this point in the cycle, but I get your point. It's time to bring along swiftly Hamid and Horvath, amongst a few others, because Howard is done after the WC and Guzan is just not that quality at this point. Also agree on bringing in some younger players, but we don't have THAT many that are senior team ready just yet. Olosunde is on the MU youth teams, so that's not realistic, and Sargent is not ready yet. But, he should bring in Mckennie, Haji Wright, Tyler Adams, Vickers/Miazga, Gooch, Hyndman when he gets back to full fitness, and maybe try to pry away Theoson Siebatcheu from France's youth levels.

We lack an enforcer with some steel in the middle. Klinsmann was right when he said the US needed to be more nasty and impose their will in CONCACAF.

Arena and MLS just reinforce the worst and most undesirable traits of the American player.

We better start Besler and Gonzales as the center back pairing. Those guys are actually used to playing each other.

Johnson should sit. Put Nagbe on one side, Arriola in the other. Play with one forward up top and overload the middle with Pulisic, Bradley and Acosta.

No Jozy tonight. Thank god.

Agree on Horvath. Not so much on Hamid. If we're talking MLS keepers, then the discussion should begin and end with Tim Melia.

If that's the CB pairing we go with, maybe toss Cameron in as the holding mid to let Bradley create a bit further forward. I have been critical of Bradley as much as the next guy, but his creativity from CM is second to none in our pool right now.

Playing Bradley too far forward is one of the reasons Jurgen was canned.

People were so dumb that they couldn't realize that he wasn't up there because he wanted him there, it's because there was nobody else. Sascha and Benny must have said something bad about Michael Bradley's mom.

Not saying he needs to play CAM, just give him a little more freedom to drift forward than he has now, especially when he was partnered with Nagbe last game. Nagbe offers little-to-nothing on the defensive side of the ball, but is out most direct attacker right now. Throw him on the wing with Arriola on the other side, Puli under Bobby or Dempsey.

Against Honduras in Honduras I would play a double pivot with two holding mids just to try and keep possession a little better.

Oh, and losing 2-0 at home to Costa Rica is just as bad as any of Jurgen's worst moments.
Ummmm, NOPE, not even close. They were in this game and got beat on a couple counters, (badly, granted), but in Klinsmann's 0-4 loss, they were not even in the game.

I was going to bring this up, but trying to convince Zoo of this is the definition of insanity...

False.

Starting two center backs who have never played together. Starting Nagbe centrally. Need I go on.

Welp, the US may get a warm welcome in San Pedro Sula today. And, that may extend to even more urine than normal.

Wow this team is so bad. Zusi is absolutely pitiful, Gonzalez is slower than a snail.

Arena just might get the US knocked out of the World Cup by the Houston Dynamo.
