Wagner prediction......

.-.
OK, Wagner is gonna stack the box. The UConn O is gonna spend most of the day trying to "establish the run" with some success but not as much as they would like. On D, UConn is gonna cycle through a number of potential pass rushers including the highly touted frosh trying to find some success. But with all day to move through his progressions the Wagner QB will be somewhat successful carving up the UConn secondary. UConn will win, but it will not be pretty. Sunday morning angst will be at an all time high.

But if UConn blows them out I may not stop at six beers.

Sources tell me the days of sweating out these types are finally behind us.
Huskies open up with an 8 minute TD drive 60 of the 75 on the ground and set the tone en route to a convincing 38-3 victory.
Finish with 310 rushing and 220 through the air. D gets 2 turnovers.

Has CT legalized or something? I must have missed that. ;)

If we struggle in this game it will be the only one we win. I don’t think people realize how bad Wagner is. It’s the worst FCS team we’ve ever played.

... I think we ought to see the color of their uniforms before we make rude dismissive commentary.

Right because last year’s results are totally meaningless.

Only on the BY.

I’m thinking something like 31-10 UConn. Problem is I can’t see us holding anyone to just 10 points. But I do think we win comfortably. Maybe 35-17, 38-21 something like that where the score looks closer than the game really is. Wagner is a step down from the CAA and Rhode Island was not a terrible team so I think we win.

I do.

It's not plugged in, so the act is more symbolic than anything else.

Well, stay in their long enough and eventually you'll starve to death. (Unless you are hedging on your suicide and bring snacks in with you.)

I wonder if some folks realize just how bad we were last season. Either that or there is an epidemic of drug use on this board that is quite alarming.

We were awful last year. Or dreadful or any other word you want to use. But URI was a decent team rom a better league tan Wagner. All their other losses were to 1aa ranked teams. Given that Wagner was a worse team from a worse league expecting a win isn’t exactly outlandish.

I don't see how any team could be worse than that Texas Southern team we played in 2010. I've seen better run high school teams.

Texas Southern vs. Connecticut - Game Summary - September 11, 2010 - ESPN
Wagner is far worse. Last year's Central Connecticut football team lost to a lousy FBS Ball State team 42-6 first game of the season and then Central, a few weeks later blew out Wagner 49-24. Aaron Dawson, of Central set an FCS record rushing for 308 yards in the first half, and finished with 361 on the ground against Wagner's run defense. Sacred Heart also beat Wagner last year 41-14.

Shocking (but not really) to see how many people are talking blowout. I don’t care how bad Wagner was last year, I’ll believe we can blow somebody out when I see it.

UConn 31 Wagner 21. Sloppy first half but we pull away after the initial frustration has settled down.

At least they gave a prediction, all you did was talk out your @ ss. Typical.

There will be moments in this game reminiscent of last year, producing 18,000 simultaneous face palms and queasy stomachs. But there will be many more moments that bring the home crowd to its feet cheering loudly. Victory at last, 45-16, and we all get to feel great for at least another week.

I want to go 9-6 UConn because RE would be happy to win every game at that score, but I have to believe NEC is a big step down in competition.

I’m saying this will be a 31-10 old-school Edsall style beat down with a strong ground game - Kevin Menseh and Art Tompkins crushing the rock! We’ll see the Defense finish the games much more this season after Matt King’s offseason workouts and strength and conditioning will pay off for these embattled Huskies. Expect a new look at QB with Mike Beaudry and an actual air attack that spreads the field wide open.

My 2019 Season Expectations:
Heart:
7-5 (and a bowl bid)
Head: 4-8 or 3-9

28-21 huskies. Hope that makes you feel better, Rob.
Obviously we disagree, but thanks. I just feel from talking to some former players who have been to the practices that this is a very different team from last year. Edsall made two great hires in Spanos and Matt King Kong. I'm sticking with 52-14. Also hearing that Beaudry does not have the QB position locked up yet, but he will probably get the nod.
