“I thought the season was a waste, personally,” forward Destiny Williams said. “We had one ultimate goal, and we didn’t reach it.”What a sad way to feel. They had lots of achievements this year. Too bad she has to negate them--but maybe that was the heat of the moment. Hope Mulkey reminds them how good their play was so often.
“I did all I can for my team,” Sims said. “I never stopped fighting. I wasn’t hitting all my shots, but I never stopped shooting. I made some big shots down the stretch. I made all my free throws. We were right there. Just couldn’t finish it.”
Was Sims implying that her teammates didn't do their part or simply explaining that she did all that she could to win? In any case, it must really tough to answer questions from reporters after a loss like this.
Actually, I think it's a very reasonable response and in fact a proper response. What is important is that Williams learn from it, put it behind her and look to the future.I hope it was the heat of the moment, and will be revised after reflection.
... An obvious foul by Griner - She hits Reid in the head - just like her many uncalled over the back fouls over the years.
I challenge you to find over the back in the rule book...Was the final play on Reid a foul? Griner didn’t think so.
“I feel like I got all ball,” Griner said. “It wasn’t my call.”
Hadn't heard this take before. An obvious foul by Griner - She hits Reid in the head - just like her many uncalled over the back fouls over the years.
Over the back in itself is not a foul if there is no contact but if there is as there was then it gets called and called frequently and quickly.I challenge you to find over the back in the rule book...

At what point did I say there was no foul, just letting you know that there is no such foul as "over the back."And I challenge you to tell me that Griner didn't foul Reid. With contact, from behind, and over the back. Watch the replay.
Griner and the other Baylor defender also fouled Reid with body contact on that play...but as you said, I am not at all surprised that Griner did not think it was a foul, given BG's history of favoritism with calls. Was the final play on Reid a foul? Griner didn’t think so.

It's not just WCBB announcers. Most announcers are not very informed on the rules of the games they call. Shocking really.P.S. - Please inform all WCBB announcers that there is no such thing as an "over the back" foul. They are obviously as misinformed as myself.
You nailed it. Baylor was given every chance to win the game in the final minutes and didnt. Simms did all she could. Griner was almost a non factor and nobody but Simms stepped up and made plays. Lville lead by 16 most of the second half and earned the win . If anything the refs appeared to give Baylor life again. Shonnis charge to me was not a charge the girl was moving and there was little contact. Simms bumping little Schimmel and Griner giving the ball to Simms and Simms missing and there didnt look like there was a foul. Hey bottom line Baylor was down the entire game til the end by double digets. Lville made shots and Baylor was spending to much time waiting for Griner to step up. She didnt/ couldnt. Make all the excuses and blame everybody you want but Baylors other players didnt step up and didnt make plays. Lville did. Simms tried to do everything she could and she almost pulled it off herself. She needed help and again nobody stepped up. Congrats to Baylor on a great season and Congrats to Lville for winning a historic game. They also complained regarding the charge call in the article...I reviewed it again this morning and Hammond was well set and despite Becca's protestations, Madden hit her with plenty of contact right in the chest, and Hammond was well outside the circle, so as far as a block-charge goes, looked like a clear charge to me (even with my objective eyes this morning).
"Baylor was granted a reprieve when Jude Schimmel spilled the ensuing inbounds pass"...Sims clearly bumped Schimmel on the play and it was a no-call. Baylor also was a beneficiary of many calls down the stretch, so Baylor is out of line in complaining about the officiating.
It was clear on the 3 that she was exhausted, which like had a role in the other issues you note.If Monique didn't win the game for Louisville, Jude would have taken the fall for the missed layup, not getting back to guard OS's 3, and the fumble of the inbounds.
But Jeff would have taken the biggest fall for his T off a replay. Coach the game in front of you, man, not the game past.

You're right, there isn't an "over the back" foul. Happy now ???
You're arguing semantics here, and you know very well what I meant if you follow WCBB. Grtiner has been using her height advantage for her entire career to come from behind on rebounds and defense, with contact on the opposing players and has not been called for the foul for the most part for the entire time. Huskyharry above has it nailed 100%.
