vs. Providence again on Tuesday?

Actually, I do. And he is. You guys are too preoccupied with how swell the Gavitt days were and stuck in 1987 to realize that the structure of college athletics is completely against PC.
No you don't you have any idea about the resources we have For instance some very influential and well to do alums have two two separate committees and organizations. These have been put together over the last year to completely support the BB team and make sure resources are never and issue again. PC has plenty of money for a coach and my guess is our practice facility is done before yours. So no, you have no idea.

Providence is the Texas of Rhode Island.

I know where it's at Ric, just having some fun in this thread about PC, I'm sure there is a thread here where you can trash your team or other posters, no need to come into this thread.

Yeah, Cooley is a Rhode Island guy. Only super success, and a great offer elsewhere, would get him to leave.
I have said this to many PC fans, and most disagree with me, but, for PC to become consistently competetive in the BE, they need a 10K on campus arena, plus a 1st class practice facility. I don't believe Dunn & Ledo had tons of offers. Dunn took the safe (and perhaps correct) route. Ledo, who knows. At least twice he seemed to want to change his mind on PC. As far as Noel, he can write his ticket. That ticket says KY with all it's 1st class facilities.
As far as the New London hack, or the PC folk who wish for UConn to sink into the abyss, it ain't happening. A state U with a 35 mil public fundraising campaign that just recieved 10 mil in the last few weeks, isn't going anywhere. Should the NCAA ban UConn from the 2013 tourney, yes, Drummond & Lamb will go to the NBA. 2-3 more players may transfer. UConn might take a brief hit for a year or two.
But, should the NCAA start it's APR penalties from 2014, instead of 2013, UConn should be fine w/o any backward steps. That will disapoint that BC influenced New London hack, plus, Rhode Island native Jacobs of the Courant, and tens of thousands of Providence fans.

Honestly, what happens or does not happen to UConn will have no affect on what happens at PC. PC needs to just keep doing what they are doing and continue to build their program the right way just like Calhoun did at UConn.

The crap about Dunn is just that crap and not containing one bit of factual information, unless of course you have some which you don't. As far as Cooley we will see I guess.

.-.
UCONN football lost money when they went to a BCS bowl. NO history? Oh, that's right...basketball started in the 90's. NO stars? Does Marshon Brooks count? No excitment? Have you met Ed Cooley?

Buy a clue

Marshon Brooks is your "star"? Being a gunner on a losing team in college and the NBA does not make you a star.

And UConn is the Avon Barksdale, so what's your point.

Well with all this big time fundraising you say PC has, my question is where is PC with this practice facility? How much $$$ has been raised to date. UConn's practice facility is scheduled to be complete in 2014. When is PC's scheduled completion? When will PC have an on campus arena?
The attendance for "hated" UConn was 11K, and change. It is my understanding that that arena seats 13K. If that's the case 2,000 empty seats for UConn. And there were plenty of UConn fans in the building. That's nothing for PC to brag about.
Regarding Dunn, I don't have inside info. But, if UConn were to do what they did with Drummond, where do you think Dunn would've ended up? Or, if UConn had an available scolie for Dunn where would he have gone?

Really? You are saying that Dunn wanted to attend UConn but they did not have a ship? This is good stuff.

The Dunk was renovated a couple years ago and the seating capacity is what you saw roughly on Tuesday.

PC will never ever have an on campus arena. They have a little over 3,000 undergrads and over 1,000 of them were at the Dunk on Tuesday. 1/3rd the undergrads attending a game with essentially a 3 year bottom dweller. If PC wins the Dunk will be fine. Have you ever attended a game there btw? The sight lines are great from any seat in the house. No need for an on campus arena for a school that plays a mile away from campus in an state of the art facility.

If you are implying that PC does not have the fan support to be competitive in the BE then that is an interesting point based once again on not one ounce of fact. PC historically has had great attendance figures for the size of the school.

You seem to have a lot of points that you list as facts, some actual proof from time to time would go a long way towards helping your cause. The point about Dunn is some of your best stuff though.

UConn didn't have an available scolie for Dunn. Everybody knows this. If you think he choose PC over UConn, with UConn offering a current scolie, well you are in fantasyland. The scolie originally offered Dunn, by UConn, in April, went to Omar Calhoun, in June.
I know the size of PC. In Rhode Island, PC is like the UConn women. Plenty of non PC folk attend your games. Just like the UConn women. But, the Dunk supposedly seats 13K. That means 2K empty seats. Unless they changed the seating capacity. And yes, I've been at that arena. But, competing with other schools with an on campus arena guess who's at the disadvantage??
What about my questions regarding your practice facility?

Hey who knows, maybe Rome will have to tap into your financial reserves to cover the next molestation lawsuit

You guys will have yours done 1st. PC still deciding whether to do a top down overhaul of current facility which was just redone recently.

The seating capacity has been lowered when they added suites etc. recently. Not sure what you are missing about that.

You are the only ones that have made these Dunn claims and you talk like you know him personally.

A religious attack? Really?

Did you not see the post I was responding to?

I did, and I was assuming you were saying that, like Avon Barksdale, we once ruled the world but soon will be going away for a long time. Was that not where you were going with that analogy?

Well, I was mostly just responding to the fact that he chose to compare PC to a character on The Wire, so I just chose someone from the same show who happens to be a person guilty of illegal behavior. I never thought of all the nuances.

Love Marshon Brooks, nice player, sometimes spectacular and seemingly going to have a very nice pro career too....good for him!

Star? What did he win?..........sean94 tells me you know little about anything prior to "the 90's" so leave that one alone!!

Anytime you want to debate college basketball pre-94(the year I graduated PC). I'll be more that happy to rise to the challenge.

I could have said knowitall knows nothing, that would have been equally truthful. Cooley is home, he is not going anywhere. To think otherwise is hope and speculation. Like I said time for you still to get on the bandwagon that even the Connecticut press says is forming.

No need to flame. Just so that we are clear when I said the first good season he has he will leave, I meant a good season by UCONN fan standards not by Providence fan standards so he's safely yours for at least one more year.

Like I said FriarJ Cooley's a great coach. Who else could have a bandwagon forming when his team is 4-13 in the Big East?

So I "debate" with you now that you have a laptop? Anyone can answer anything I may throw at them in this day and age.........Not sure you can even talk about PC with me without a book? .................went to the PCC (the Garden too) and sat up in the bar so many times from when I was 18 I can't remember...............watching the ECAC's year in year out with some great classics between PC, BC, URI, UConn and so many others................Marvin, Ernie, Stacom, Soup, Eason, Hassett - Sly Jiggy - Cobb - ..........winner is (for UConn fans) Abro, Carr, Whelton, Lavigne squad with the upset.........big party - drank champagne in the streets with Toner and then we all went to the Foxy Lady......you weren't even a drop on your dad's leg yet when college hoops was even more fun in New England!!!

i'm pretty sure dunn was choosing between PC and lousiville. uconn wasn't even much of a player so give that a rest.

the dunk is about as far from campus as gampel is from carriage house. and the xl center is MUCH farther away.

good luck once mumbles hangs it up. ollie has been doing a good job in his absence... oh yeah, my mistake. i hope to god that tuesday is a rematch.

Considering "The Dump" and Carriage House are very similar, that is a great comparison!

Well, you're the guy who stated I make statements w/o proof. You just made a statement about beating UConn to a practice facility and when questioned, you alter your statement.
Second, no, I wasn't aware the capacity of the Dunk was lowered. But, in my last post, I brought up that as a possibility.
Finally, regarding Dunn, in August, both he & Drummond were to attend Wilbraham. All of the sudden he changes from Wilbraham back to NLHS. Dunn further states he'll announce his college decision. It was between UConn & Providence. Everybody in the world knew UConn didn't have a scolie available. Naturally he choose PC. Two weeks later UConn had to move mountains to get Drummond enrolled. UConn wouldn't have done that for Dunn. But, had a scolie been available, it is my belief (notice that it's my opinion, I don't need proof) Dunn would be entering UConn this fall. Hey, PC capitalized on that situation. That's what UConn needed to do during Donyell Marshall's recruitment in the early 90's. Situations like this could get PC where it wants to go.

.-.

Sean, PC folk get their laughs when they beat UConn 50%+ of the times. UConn fans laugh at PC because UConn is about the only BE school they can beat. (yeah I know of Pitt a few years back & Louisville this year) The other thing that UConn laughs at PC folk for is their insistence for going back to the past. That's the past. Most under 40 (which I am not) don't remember this.
You people seem to imply that UConn has no business becoming good, post 1990.
BTW, before the BE was formed UConn beat PC for the New England championship and the right to go to the NCAA's. I believe that was 1978.
