Virginia's point guard

The kid is actually pretty solid. He is more of a shooting guard and can drain the three ball.. His shot was quite off today but Virginia as a team couldnt hit anything....Defensively he just couldnt hang with Trice.. But Trice is really quick and a top senior guard

A point guard is a distributor - his job is to run the offense and put the entire squad in position to score. Doesn't matter whether or not the ball touches his hands last before it goes into the bucket.

I feel like there's a lot of inherent bias in judgement of over teams' PGs based on our own history Just because Kemba, Bazz, and Boat were scoring PGs doesn't mean that they've redefined what being a collegiate point guard is.

It doesn't matter what the level is, a point guard who can't score in 2015 is not valuable, particularly on a team that struggles to score.

The idea that pg's should be judged as "floor generals" is antiquated.

Its a fine line though. I think we can all agree to be an elite pg you definitely need to have an arsenal of passes that most dont. this is where boat struggled, however its the same thing that launched napier into all american status. He was an elite shooter, who could make an array of passes off a screen w/ the ball in his hands. He was also a terrific entry passer and skip passer. Boatright was a phenomenal scorer, but didn't really have that many passes in his tool bag ( what comes to mind is the patented behind the back pass from napier to giffey on pick n pops, boatright never completed simple plays like this; he looked to attack off every screen. He rarely adjusted to the hard hedge... honestly i'm hard pressed to recall boatright throwing a bounce pass or finding a live cutter).

With perrantes, he is a good passer, but just an abhorrent offensive option. Short and not a good athlete/finisher.

Jesus you really are a stalker.

You are being generous

As far as London P is concerned, he has had some really good games this year and isn't what he represented today.
I had UVA in the final four BUT was afraid a more physical/athletic team who played their A game would upset UVA's strength - half court defense.
MSU just got too many runouts and transition hoops.
Not a big MSU fan but Izzo got them ready today and he's not in the HoF

MSU kind of owns UVA in the NCAAT. Two years in a row now right?

I can't think of a single national champion in the last decade that started a point guard who wasn't averaging double figures.

yes its over a decade, but Taliek averaged 6.3 in 2003-2004. If you can control the tempo, distribute the ball, and play defense you don't need to be a big scorer as point.

So in the spirit of hyperbole you started -- you couldn't be more wrong. Just the last two seasons UVA has had proves that beyond disagreement. Ask a UVA fan about his contribution to the last two years --- they are all glad they have him.

Would Perrantes play over or under 20 minutes a game for us this year?

probably around 20, depending on how well he defends. he is clearly a better option than samuel who played 20 mpg somehow

Do you know what all of the teams left in the tournament have in common? They have a point guard that scores.

He's a very nice player actually and didn't particularly have a good game today, nor did the rest of the team. They struggled to score when Anderson went down with the injury and he was far from the same payer when he returned.

But the PG a very good playmaker, very good passer and ball handler and very intelligent on the court. We would like him to be on our team, not ahead of Jalen mind you, but the next option!
