Bad coaching did a lot of damage, but I fear the larger problem is that, on top of the inherent disadvantages UConn has with recruiting, dropping to a mid-major major conf. has led to a downward spiral in recruiting. Players on D are looking pretty outmatched today. The worst part is that I'm starting to wonder if the program can ever reverse that trend and get us into a better conference.
 
Lashlee has some plays that are working. He just keeps going back to the ones we know won't. Too many freak plays and zero ability to dictate play.

I get what your saying but it hasn't stopped Memphis playing neck and neck with UCLA, or Northern Illinois beating Nebraska or Airforce playing neck nd neck with Michigan.

More than 5k did show up. My guess is 14-16K, could be more.

Lots of the students likely at Farm Aid concert this weekend. That it came here is a huge thing. Caught me by surprise how much buzz that has.

have you considered the concept of setting up plays? The offense hasn't been terrible outside of the turnovers.

Go look at the inside runs and tell me they are the work of competent coaching. The rest looks fine and the players suck but, part of the deal is trying to help them succeed. Running into a line that can't run block is the very definition of not helping.

we aren't going to win games because we can't run the football, but the only way you get better is to practice it and get better players. we're not set up to throw the ball 60 times a game.

That is exactly why we won't win games. Notice that once they adjusted to account for BS scrambling we have zero rushing yards.

Our defense is just really far behind. Not sure if it's the new formation, the personnel, or both. The offense hasn't actually been that bad. But right now, Virginia had had the ball for 28 minutes to our 18. 2 big turnovers in the red zone and 10 extra minutes of offense, and this is what it looks like...
 
Can't block, no speed or playmakers on either side of the ball. Can't get penetration on D.

On the bright side we will try to advance the ball on kickreturns. Not sure about our puntreturn plan. Nat many opportunities.

With a low production offense, you better have a heck of D... gonna be a tough year looking at this mess.
 
Fun fact, I actually thought we would win this game. Hate as you will, pessimistic boneyard, you were right.

UConn should be able to score in this next drive as long as they stop making high school team type mistakes!
