Virginia Game Thread

Trey Bell and Summers get burnt so easily. Who did we recruit? They are not getting burn on 50/50's they are getting beat about 5-10 yards down field.
 
Bad D is forcing these 4th down tries. Getting stalled between the 30 and 40 as well.

That's just it.

The offense is "going for it" because the D had only stopped them twice. We are deep in the third quarter, and I'm pretty sure I'm right about that twice number...

The only possible high percentage would be a quick screen to Newsome. But that worked earlier so we can't use it again.

I don't get how we were a decent team (even pretty good) in our early FBS years, and now we're not even a shadow of that. How did we regress this badly?
 
The D would have cost us this game even if our offense scored points those early turnovers just cost us from getting a moral victory.

We deserve everything we've got. You don't go out and hire an out of touch dinosaur and follow up that hire with a lunatic who has no business being near a football field. Most programs are serious about winning, you make hires like that and you aren't serious. We've dug our own grave.
 
Ok our defense is beyond awful. I know we bashed Diaco for all his lacking on offense and time management and whatnot. But Defense was supposed to be his thing. These players he brought in are awful

Pasqualoni and Diaco.
 
UConn has to score a field goal or TD soon. They may lose the game but not to score anything would be a terrible impact from the game for the season.
 
I remember Diaco being really high on Bell.... just another slow defender he recruited. My question is why doesn't Edsall have someone help over the top?

“I spoke with (UConn) coach (Bob) Diaco earlier this week,” Mason said. “(Bell) needed to have an opportunity to compete and play at an institution that fit his skill set.”

What skill set? This is by far the worst secondary I have ever seen Uconn field. Just when we thought the program has hit rock bottom...

Why? They got their heads bashed in, period. If they score 3 points or even a TD does it make it any less terrible? Not likely

If the offense had cleaned some things up today it could have been competent.

Defense never had a chacne.
 
This recovery from Diaco is going to be painful. I kind of expected a game like this early on though,.

Carrezola, Fatukasi and Orsmby would have trouble beating a turtle in a race. Can't ever get pressure and when we send the blitz, the blitzers arrive late rendering them useless. Then we get toasted over the top.

When they finally start competing I will appreciate and enjoying it more.
