Villanova football leaving the competitive CAA and joining the Patriot League.
The CAA is losing their top 2 football schools from 2024, Richmond and Villanova, plus William and Mary. The CAA has recently added Hampton, Campbell, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, and Bryant which are not Villanova's peer schools. Patriot football is a much better fit for Villanova than the current/future CAA.
Someone will mention yankee conference.Wonder for Maine UNH and Rhody.
Really? Always assumed they were a rich dumb kid school. Guess I'm wrongI know from personal knowledge that Bryant isn't in love with the conference. They just don't really have a choice right now. They prefer a more regional and better academic conference. I'm really not sure where Bryant is trying to go with all of this. They've lowered their acceptance standards, added liberal arts and sciences and despite seemingly leaving their Babson/Bentley model behind, seem to be thriving. Its a very well run operation, but I fear getting too far away from attracting really strong students will be a problem down the road. As of now, Bryant is doing really well in all of the rankings that really matter. I'm just not sure why they've made this aggressive move to play D1 sports and grow them so fast.

A&T had some of the best small school tailgating you will ever seeTerrible loss for the CAA! As a Maine fan would much rather be playing Nova than NC A&T...
CAA in trouble (plus changing name from Colonial to Coastal to be PC) and Patriot League schools have much better academic profile, not that it matters anymore
I agree. Two years ago, maybe. I have not paid attention to the decline of the CAA. My fault.Nothing like a thread that trips and falls coming out of the gate.

No college administrator has the colleges interest at heart. They're all about building their own empires. If they cant do it in one place they'll move onNah. It’s a good business school with very strong Actuarial, Finance and Accounting majors. Their grads do very well on average, making a degree worth the cost.
Anyway, I have a friend who gives a lot of money to the school. His parents were large donors before him. I had lunch with him a couple of weeks ago and he said he was concerned and disappointed that the school was investing so much in athletics and loosening admission standards. That began when they added a lot of Liberal Arts majors to the curriculum. Previously it was almost entirely business and mathematics. He’s been making some noise that he doesn’t like the strategy, as have others.
I have family that recently graduated from Bryant. He makes big $$$ with a job in Boston and London.Really? Always assumed they were a rich dumb kid school. Guess I'm wrong
Pssh so he's an itinerant worker? I expected better.I have family that recently graduated from Bryant. He makes big $$$ with a job in Boston and London.

Is Nova still “studying” whether to join the Big East for football?
