If Nova wins another title like a majority of the board wants they will get any McDonald’s AA over UConn every time (that considers both programs)

But keep rooting for Nova cause they are the big east

I want to call this a classic strawman argument, but I'm thinking it's actually worse than that

I read an interview that Wright did once, and he related that after his 2009 final four, he found himself able to recruit players that wouldn't previously given Nova a look. So for couple of years he recruited a couple of really highly ranked guys, and didn't have much success. He said he realized that although really good, they weren't good fits for the type of basketball he wanted to play.

Since then, he has been much more discriminating about picking guys that would fit into his system rather than just collecting the highest rated guys. Its not clear that Jay and Dan will be chasing the same guys.

Also, for the Nova success somehow hurts UConn crowd, take a look at Duke and North Carolina. They are next door neighbors in the same conference. One's success doesn't hurt the other.

Dominic Cheek Malik Wayans…
Both of whom saw ~11 mpg as frosh.

In the three years they played together, their postseason was R32 (Reynolds' last year), R64, and missed. They went downhill.

This exactly.
Wright gets guys who fit his system and they are incredible at it. It requires a ton of selflessness and patience. Not every top 50 recruit wants to deal with that

He’s also only had one season of doing it with no sit transfers rules. Will be interesting how much more difficult it makes it to maintain that system.

Well my point is he seems to recruit kids to play his system. If kids are transferring out they probably aren’t the ones on the floor winning championships for him.
He’s probably the best coach in the country.

Go out and beat them. Stop worrying about Villanova. Recruit better, train better, and coach better. All 3 of those things have nothing to do with Villanova’s successes. We’ve had plenty of McDonalds AA not live up to the hype. There are great players all over, just find them! Shooters please.

I normally root for our league's teams as that makes us look better, but it's getting hard to root for Volvonova.
Their coach has had some very good years but didn't become a certified genius until the OBE broke up. They've won the BE tournament 8 times and guess what? 7 of them have been since UConn left the league. 7 of their 8 wins have been since 2014. Time to depose them.
JC really couldn’t find his success in the Big East until the legends Rollie and Louie had moved on and left him some room.

O.K. this is a good place to put this article. I thought this was interesting. Shows the recruiting rankings of the starters on each of the teams in the Final Four. Only 1 top 10 guy (Banchero). Not even too many 5 stars except Duke. Lots of 4 stars, which is what Hurley has been recruiting. Check out the rankings of the Kansas and Villanova teams.

There's a lot more to having a successful team than getting McDonald's All Americans.

Case in point, look what St. Peters did this year. How many 5 stars did they have? How many 4 or even 3 stars did they have?

It was actually Craig Esherick leaving that really allowed JC to shine.

Good catch by Nova. Kid is a pro.
yes. and you called it, long ago. the guy is a nine, or a 23 tool player, including a most obvious ability to do what it takes to win. now, everbuddy is starting to a get a clue.

Rip Hamilton was a top 20 recruit, doesn't that make him a 5-star? El-Amin was also highly rated out of high school and a McD's All-American. Not to mention Charlie Villaneuva, DeAndre Daniels, Alex Oriakhi and Kemba.

It's nice to have 5 star players.
